Nimco Controls freezing

I didn't notice until now but in the view from the top there are what look like 2 caps, one over each spool. Should I remove those and check, clean, etc? Also if I want to remove the cable does it fasten directly to the spool?

Before you remove those caps, you should have a parts list so you can put it back together if you take it apart.

Is there a CV number on that valve.

Check all the linkage for binding.

Is it possible for there to be moisture under the caps?

The most common problem of valve freeze up is moisture under these caps. See arrows on your photo.

If I am to remove the caps for inspection is there any pressure on them. I am assuming the springs, etc are under the caps?

I haven't found a cv number on the unit. I have sent an email to Nimco to see if I can find that information

I think the quickest and first thing to do is unhook the cables like J J said at the valve and make sure its not the cable freezing up before opening up the system.

Ok. So to unhook the cables is it just a matter of winding the nuts off on the bottom side of the valve?

There is no pressure under the caps.

There are springs and balls and a detent groove.

This might be your control. Check the connections out also.

Thanks J J for all the info. I really appreciate all the help. I have looked through all the schematics and haven't seen anything on how the cable connects to the end of the spool.
