Here are a few pics of our most recent demo. The tractor is a CAT 297C. I think cat has been listening to mulchers complaints. This tractor has definitely raised the bar. The customer already has two cat 297c's running other mulchers. Soon to have all Cimaf heads if all goes well. He has two women operators and the lady who ran our head went after the biggest tree she could find right out of the gate.

Wow Robbie,

You know thats my DREAM machine.........I already wanted the CAT but I really like the profile of that head !! low and not overbearing..How long has this customer been running this set up?...Do you think the 287C is comparable?...Which model D.C. head is that?? Anything out there for my machine?? How heavy is it?

Hey Scott. After seeing the 297C run you can't help but like it. They now have the tractor to beat. The customer already has two 297's with over 500 hrs on one, so far so good. The one we demoed to him would be his third.
As I understand it all cat's with high flow have the same specs, so the 287 would run it well. The only think I would question would be the radiators, I believe they are stacked on the older units. They were side by side on the 297's.
But back to the 287, we tune our heads to each tractor they are run on. We set everything to the tractor as to get the most out of each unit without overheating.
As far as your tractor if you've got the flow I think you might be able to run the 180D, which is the one pictured. The weight is 2500-2600 lbs. Not sure of the specs of your tractor. It needs atleast 30 gpm @ 3000psi. I would say it's a little heavy but a new member on here is running a 73" timberax on a 256 and it's around 2500 lbs also. If not stay tuned, another unit is coming that will work for sure.
I have to work on my FL dealerships soon so I will try to get you to a demo and let you see us turn one of these monsters loose.
