I found a couple pictures online:

On a 169D:

Now that is really nice.

On a few of the other YM models, and John Deere models there is a fuel gauge that sits right on the top of the tank as the cap.

Back in 2014, these were under $40. Don't look at the price now. LOL

There was somebody on Ebay selling that type of gauge for a wide variety of equipment. As I recall he said tell me the depth of your tank and I probably have it.

I bought a new lens and its gasket from him to replace one that was clouded, cracked, and it let rainwater into the face of the gauge. It probably let water into the tank too. These gauges have a reputation for that. I suggest use sealer on the gasket.

On my previous YM186D the lens was clouded, so I painted the inner surface with clear nail polish. It was easy to see the needle after that.

In the Yanmar Model Cover Pages, the YM1601 is shown like this. :)

Not much progress lately as I’ve been waiting for parts but today I got the roll bar manual for my 226 since I’ve managed to find an oem one which I’m working out the shipping details on. Figured I’d post the pages out of it to hopefully help someone later on. On a bright note my injection pump and injectors are freshly rebuilt now, just gotta pick them up. Only bummer was the cost since the pump was full of water and rust. The shop said a new pump was NLA so I had to fork out some dough to get this one fixed up. Hopefully Hoye gets in some of the backordered parts so I can get my order from them, that’s got my injection pump shins so I’m still kinda stuck until those parts come. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had one of those cap gauges for a minute. Not even close to being accurate and the threaded ring broke after about three fill ups. Now I have the stock red cap that cam with it. I fill up after each use anyway so I am always good.

Bummer it broke on you. Mine works very well. The lens can be an issue. Just a simple flat gasket works best vs. the o-ring that comes with it.

It's accurate enough to know when to refill, else re-priming the fuel lines to the injectors would be needed. LOL

This was on my JD850. I saved it for the YM2610. But first got the lens and gasket from Fredricks few under $5 at the time.

Finally figured out my scanner this morning so I figured id post one of the original YM226/YM226D YM276/YM276D brochures I bought off ebay. I've got another more detailed one as well that I may post later.

I would be interested in scans of the 187D section of your book. There might be some data (torque specs being one) on installation of the ROPS for the related 186D there. Thanks.
