Are the black front weights the original Yanmar with the Yanmar name or just repainted black to match the Yanmar with the deer on them? I have JD ones on my YM2610 that came from a JD650. Painted them Yanmar black.

These are Deere ones that I’ve just painted black. I’m pretty convinced I paint them every time I use the tractor 🤷🏻‍♂️

From what I recall reading here more than a decade ago - Those are excellent, every bit as good as the Yanmars. But with one exception: A few people were crying that they broke the ring gear or front differential or something similar, with no hope of repairing it. No parts available. Hinomoto folded long ago. That unavailable part was already stripped from every salvage yard Hinomoto.

I guess the thing to be learned is don't overstress the differentials and you will be fine.

Yea, I’ve read that. Fortunately a local salvage yard shows the gears in inventory, I’m just waiting for a day off to go buy them since I’m sure mine are in bad shape. Today I tried to get it started and found the starter is toast, literally wouldn’t even spin the engine over with no glow plugs in it. Turns over great by hand though. Hoping to at least get it running by the time the service manual shows up so I can tear into the front axle.

This is what the JD650 looked like when I got them. Marked 20Kg.

I tossed between red and black for some time. Then got the black for $1 at the Dollar Tree! So, black they became.

Looking good!

How close is that color to rattle-can 'Propane Bottle White'?

Good question! I just ordered the white paint from Hoye so it should be pretty close.

Rust oleum almond color is a close match to the Japanese yanmar wheels

Small update:

Rear tires mounted and back on the tractor!

Front tires coming in tomorrow although I’m planning to reseal the front end before the new front tires go on. Front end parts should be here tomorrow tho! 🤞🏼

And finally got the front tires on

Note: Front wheels only fit in the wide setting with little room to spare. For me it’s perfect, the tractors setup for stability and flotation for running a finish mower. If you haven’t read my previous posts these are John Deere 790 wheels and tires on my Yanmar YM226D.

With that stance she looks like a Bulldog with an attitude ready to do battle.

Got the 226D out to mow today. Overall very happy with how the R4’s don’t tear up the grass like the R1’s did. Still debating getting rear wheel spacers since I can’t use the turn buckles to adjust the lower lift arms.

Made a little more progress today on the 226D ...I pulled the injectors and injection pump...and be sure to go over it thoroughly before I start to put it to work.

This is a helpful thread. Not sure if I should make a new post or ask here. (happy to delete and do that).
I am dealing with a fuel leak at the top of the injection pump on my 226D. I have replaced o-rings and crush washers on other injection pumps succesfully. I have never taken this one apart. Any concerns removing the injector line and opening the port up to measure o-ring and sealing washer to find a replacement? I have not been able to find replacement seals, so I guess I have to take it apart and measure what is there.
Any info for where to order the seals?
