Rear Finish Mower New purchase advice

I mow about 10 acres of what was a horse pasture so it is a little uneven, with 20 years of hoof prints. I have a MF 1240 tractor, about 25-30 hp and was using a Deere 272. It's time to upgrade! I believe I'm between a Woods PRD7200 and a Land Pride FDR2572. Any info or guidence or other recomendations would be appreciated!

I use an FDR2584 (7') behind my similar tractor. It easily cuts down pasture stuff including a lot of russian olive and wild berry bushes. You can set the deck from ground scarf to 8" grass height for getting whatever field height you want. I added the Gator mulching type blades to avoid clumping and accelerate the decomposition.

This is a rear discharge mower that can be run at max tractor ground speed. Nice job on the lawn, too. I think most people would agree that the wider the mower, the better from a time, fuel standpoint. Once the initial cutting is done, the rest is maintenance from that point on in time.

Do you need anything other than the mulching blades for a good mulching job?

Both are really good mowers, we use a Caroni RFM which has worked really well for us. They work best when cutting short grass, so we mostly use rotary cutters. For a good finish cut the RFM does a good job as does a good flail mower.

Both the Woods and Landpride finish mowers are very good. But if it was my money, I'd buy the Landpride.

Both are good mowers. I picked the Woods PRD7200 over Land Pride because I like the spring tensioned anti-scalp castors on the Woods. The PRD7200 is my second Woods RFM. I have also owned a Woods 72" RM660 and a Caroni 72" RFM. I like the quality of the cut on Woods mowers.
