New pull type blower

Bought a new Lucknow pull type/inverted snowblower. 7 1/2ft unit. My NH TN75 does a good job with it. It takes a bit getting used to, but makes life a lot easier. Still have my regular 7 1/2ft unit. Will keep it for another year or two. So far waded snow up to the belly of tractor, still pulled ok. Big drifts? Just lower FEL to about the same height of clearance of tractor and that seems to work well.

I looked them up on the internet. Nice HD unit. For 24 years I used a 3-point snowblower. It worked great but I would get so stiff, cramped up and tired from the 3+ hours it took to clear the driveway & mailbox area. Driving in reverse with a mist of snow hitting you all the time is for the birds. A pull type would be nice.

I have had a 90" pull type made by Smyths Welding for many years.
In 2006 it cost $3,700 Canadian. Model is 90ST, Weight is 1080#, auger is 20" and fan is 30" x 10"
Adding a rear blade is a big improvement.
You can back right up to a garage door and pull the snow forward, raise the blade and back up a little and then blow the pile you pulled forward.

Made the blade myself. !/2" plate. Even use it as a box blade for some landscaping.

Like the back blade. Going to try and get time to build one this summer.

Yes, that back blade is clever. Plate stock backed by angle.
But why 2 cylinders? Ease of install vs cost? one should have sufficed with a bit of clever design.
Is it free float or down pressure.

I used two cylinders to be able to put uniform down pressure for scrapping hard snow and to avoid having to fabricate a beam structure on the blower to take the force of one cylinder.
I did the fabrication and fitting up using my small mig and then had a real welder come and secure everything.
Cylinders at Princess Auto are cheap.
Some company units just use chains to pick up the blade when the blower is lifted.
A guy who does driveways for a living stated on this forum the chain type is more idiot proof with the operators they have. However they loose the down pressure ability.
I can push back heavy snow with the blade. Catching on a rock is not a problem. Factory units are made of 1/8" stock and can be easily bent.
