I think we all realize that no company makes all the attachments on all our wish lists and most of us have made or modified attachments for PT's, I thought it would be interesting to put together a wish list. Maybe Power Trac will look at designing and building some of them if they believe a good market exists for that attachment.
1: I would like to see a tree shear to cut small trees close to the ground, including an arm long enough and blades long enough to reach under clumps of wild roses and cedars without getting thorns or needles in your face. Maybe cut 6" diameter on small machines and 10 or 12" on larger machines.
2: I would like to see a lifting clamp to lift concrete pavers off a pallet one layer at a time. My choice would be for this to work on the 425, but some of you might want to use it on larger machines.
3: I would like to see a small post driver/concrete breaker for the 425, to do work in tight places. The post driver on the large PTs works well and breakes concrete great with a foot on the bottom.
4: I would like to see a flex mowing deck or two with rear discharge. I modified another brand and it cuts well but the side discharge slings grass clippings in the shrub beds.

Please add other attachments that you might need.

For new attachments for the PT425 I would like to see a Chipper/Shredder.

What brand mowing deck did you modify? I too am interested in a flex mowing deck, but the 72" one made by Lastec is too large and lots of $$.

I will second the motion for a chipper for the pt 1430. I have a 3 pt chipper for the cut that works great but it sure would be easier to transport with the PT. I see some companys make a 3 pt adaptor with hyd pto but i don't know if it would produce enough power to run the chipper. The two tractors are about the same HP. The question is, would the 1430's hydrolics with the right motor produce close to the same hp as the pto on the cut?

Interesting that you brought this up as I have been thinking of attchments that would be great to have. The chipper/schredder would be a great tool. The idea of a man lift would be a great help. Adjustable forks for the 425.
I'm sure I will think of more in a few days.
Both my computers crashed last Tuesday, using the library right now until they are back from the repair shop.

A chipper shreader would be nice, the bigger the better (PT2445) .

For a company that supposedly started out catering to the needs of landscapers and nurseries, I'm surprised they don't offer an attachment to make B&B easier...The tree-hugger is a start, but what about a surround/plunge/slice/dig/lift/drop-into-a-pot thingy for landscape material (bushes and small trees) field growers?

PJ,

What do you mean by a 'man-lift'?

I'd also love to have a chipper-shredeer for my 1845, but I'm not sure I can justify it, even if they make it. Similarly, I would like their post pounder, but extended two feet. 8' posts are OK for most fence, but occasionally we use 9 or 10. I'll probably buy a pounder when the next big section needs replacement.

We use the PT post driver on a 1850 and it has a foot that extends downard in 6" increments to allow you to drive post 10' and longer. The stroke is 42" on the 500# hammer. I will say the PT driver works better than the two other brands we used in the past. An articulated machine is perfect to position a post driver, steering right or left swings the driver, the aux. pto and arm tilt sets it vertical, then lower onto the foot and drive. Two people can drive more post than 4 can with a standard farm tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We modified a Lastec (74" I think). In my opinion Lastec is too expensive.

Hi guys, i am not driving another 500 miles to deliver this New and improoved list to pt. Charlie, Sedgwood and i delivered the last one to no avail. Some of us even lost some money on tht trip, called NEW attachments. Not a single thing was build, changed or even discussed with the gentelmen/women on this pt forum. But i guess it is good dreaming, a search of the pt forum could reveal more good ideas but they are now a yeaar old. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Well, they did change the layout of the engine compartment on the 425. And they got rid of the hydro-back. And they got stronger wheel motors, and they increased the lift, so they are continuing to improve that product line. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Maybe that is why PT sells the "Custom Attachment Plate"!!!

All you have to do is design and build whatever attachment you want and stick it on their Plate!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif What could be easier than that!!??!! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Not sure the expense could be worth it but Ingersoll makes a hydraulic chipper/shredder for $1900...yikes. Then you would still have to attach it to the PT

we have taken advantage of this a few times so far: Famous Cheap Snow plow (see thread) vertical Grapple designed and built by Charlie, converted Leafplow from Jrco, our own fabrication of a leafblower buggy (11hps) Little Wonder, converted Lesco 100# fert and seed spreader, trailer hitch and two 57 inch deck Kunz acerease mower (here we used the quick attach to easier load and unload the trailer mowers on and off the landscape trailers) just to name a few finished and in operation projects.

To be finished this year, the conversion of a brush saw, we call it multiflora destroyer,it is a horizontal sawbalde powered by a hydro motor.

A box like affair that fits on your forks. Has rails and floor platform to stand on when working high areas. Raise the forks and you have your manlift. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

We used to use something like this all the time back in my warehouse days. Very useful when you have to count inventory fifty feet up. So I'm pretty sure these "cages" are available already. The problem is that the PT forks, I think, are not adjustable. They should be. They'd be far more useful if you could set their spread. The cages I'm referring to required that you set the forks wide apart. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Power Trac lists the forks for the 400 series as pallet forks. They are only $250.00 last I checked. I think if they made them adjustable, the price would rise. Plus, the little 400s only lift 800#. The adjustable folks might take away from the useful load.

As for a man lift... you ride up there, I'll drive! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
