Hi from Sunny Southern California. I have a question but I am not sure where I should post my question, so I'll do it here. I have a JD 790 for which I bought a Brush-Hog mowing deck. The manufacturer of the deck suggests that the 3 point hitch be set to "Float" while mowing. How do I set the 3 point hitch to "Float" on my JD 790? Thank you in advance for your helpful advice.

Float is just pushing the lever all the way down since the 3PH does NOT have downpressure.

As far as float, your Bush Hog RFM (now, I am assuming you are referring to a Bush Hog brand finish mower, is that correct?) manual describes how to set it up.

If I'm correct about your mower being a Bush Hog brand finishing mower, read the attached .pdf, specifically Steps M and N and Figure 2-6.

BTW, you really should read your manual before using any powered equipment. The manual may answer questions you have (such as this one) and questions you haven't thought of yet.

BTW, the older (pre-2003) 790's did have a "float" adjustment on the tractor's lower links. This is shown in your tractor's operator's manual. My old 790 was a 2003 model and did not have this feature.
