This forum has been quite helpful to me as a guest as I have little experience and few connections related to using farm equipment. So I have been turning to you tube and the web, and to my operating manuals that are not always clear, for knowledge. And I appreciate the opportunity to join a community that shares what is often unwritten tacit knowledge.

After a couple of careers working inside I have enjoyed becoming a retiree with an outdoor project. My wife and I are spending a couple of days a week trying to tame a former farm in central Virginia that has been abandoned for perhaps 80 or more years. The 15 acre property is now heavily wooded, mostly hardwood, and is loaded with wisteria and other vines, privet, sweet pepper bush, etc. The equipment we are using include a FM 1736 tractor with attachments, kawasaki gas mule, a couple of EGO electric chain saws, a couple of Stihl chain saws, and various other small cutting implements. So far we have cleared enough underbrush and removed dead branches and trees to get around 2 or 3 acres pretty well. We are making progress, but slowly.

One of the items I need help with is how to hook up my tractor and bush hog with a quick hitch. At the time I acquired the bush hog I did not consider a quick hitch, so the dealer provided the bush hog for direct hook up to the tractor. Now that I want to use a quick hitch I realize the bush hog does not fit the quick hitch and I have not been able to determine how to connect it safely to the quick hitch. The Bush Hog operating manual shows a different kind of bracing on the cutter than I have, so I have tried, without success, to contact Bush Hog directly for advice. I am attaching a photo of my bush hog in the hopes that one of you have some advice for me. IMG_0219.jpg

Welcome to TBN & the forum. I don't own nor need a bush hog - no help there. Sound like you have the land clearing aspect figured out pretty well. Slow, steady, safe.

Welcome to the forum!

:tractor: :welcome:

I'm going to move this thread over to our attachments section.
It's a good place to start for finding info on how to get things working with a quick hitch.

Just a quick note. Seems the U shaped bracket on the top needs to be horizontal, open end forward with a pin in the extra hole, to accept the top hook on the quick hitch.

Welcome fellow Virginian... Tho I'm up in the mountains. I use Pat's easy hitch and it does help hooking up equipment.
