New Max series...

   / New Max series... #151
If I am not mistaken, Mahindra is launching a new series of tractor. I believe this is a compact line that competes favorable against say a Kubota BX series sub-compact... Is my info correct?? And if it is, what is the ETA of such a machine? Any specs out there (for example, how would it compare to the 1816?). My garden tractor just broke for the last time! I am not sinking any more $$ into it! Maybe it's time to buy Mahindra #2 for mowing and yard work...

Any info on these would be great!

Thanks,

Amstaff
Negative..........

You stated two entirely different categories: 'compact' and 'subcompact'.

The Mahindra Max is actually a 'compact tractor', it would be comparable to a 'B' series Kubota, or other similar CUT tractor.

Mahindra is falsely advertising their product.

And in the case of the MAX 22..........it appears to be a 'severely underpowered' CUT at that.

My SUBCUT Massey has more power to the rear PTO than the Mahindra Max 22.............The 1860 Kubota(smallest SUBCUT Kubota makes), has the same PTO HP as the Mahindra Max 22..............at about 8 grand less money.

The Kubota BX1860 in more of a garden tractor compared to the MAX22. However, Tractor.com refers to the Kubota as a compact tractor. And no there is definitely not an $8K difference in pricing.

I got a price in VA a few days ago.

Max 22 with no accessories for $10,500

I want to know if this is a good deal.

The other dealer near me I refuse to do business with.

Opinions? http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/mahindra-buying-pricing/220909-new-max-series-4.html

Some of the comments from Kubota fans are just rediculous. I won't quote any of you directly as I don't intend to get into a back and forth, but come on guys, Kubota can do what they want, so can Mahindra. Until some official group declares just what defines a sub-cut or a cut, I think the nonsense about false advertising is just brand loyalty coming out in an ugly manner.

Mahindra has made a very compact conventional tractor. It clearly does not have lawnmower size tires or does not look like it comes from lawn mower heritage. So is it disqualified some how from this ambiguous SCUT nomenclature? It really is what people are looking for that have an acre to 5 acres. Yes it is a half step up in specs in some areas, and some people that do 90% mowing and very little loader and backhoe work might find the lighter Kubota better suited. But we feel for most applications, this defines what the market wants in a SCUT.

So sure, by Kubota standards Mahindra has muddied the waters between the BX and the B. But there is nothing wrong with that. I understand your points about Mahindra making comparisons agains the BX, when they could choose to compare to the B, but the market this tractor is directed towards is the SCUT market.

And every time this thread comes back to the top, more people learn about Mahindra and want to see about these Max models. So in that way, let's keep up the conversation. :D

We have never seen such intense interest in a new model.

So has Kubota, John Deere, Cub/Yanmar, Massey and New Holland. But none of the above stoop to false advertising as Mahindra does.

Mahindra does not make a "subcompact tractor".

And you as a 'red carpet dealer' knows this, and probably never should have entered the discussion. You appear to be condoning the actions of Mahindra Corporation to mislead people.

Honest dealers don't mislead buyers.

This was an honest statement though, "Mahindra has made a very compact conventional tractor". But it is not in any way, shape, nor form a 'subcompact'. The Mahindra Max series and the 1816/2216 are compact utility tractors pure and simple.

Don87,

I dare say you will get little support from anybody not drinking orange Kool-Aid for calling me dishonest and for asking me to stay out of a discussion.

Stay up on your self-righteous soap box and tell the world that someone is marketing in a manner that hurts your sensitivities.

Meanwhile, we will continue to sell the dickens out of these fine tractors.

If you'll notice.......mine is red.

That's 2 mistakes you've made in 2 posts..........care to try for a third?

The specifications on the Mahindra "subcompact tractors" clearly show them to be miscategorized purposely to fool the public.

Mahindra does not make a subcompact.

You have the facts in front of you, and as a dealer, should not be pushing them as something they aren't.
This is why you should not have entered the discussion..........you know that they are not subcompacts. To say they are, and you being a dealer with the knowledge to know the difference, makes you dishonest in my book.

As I've told the others, it's like comparing an F250 to a Ford Ranger.........the only similarity is that they are both trucks.

Well Don, my bad on not catching the fact you have a Massey.

Calling me a liar doesn't fly, and you will not get support for that comment from anyone that knows me. Calling me imperfect, well that's not a problem! :)

I'm not coming down to your level, to do so would require personal attacks on your integrity, and that is way out of the realm of a well moderated tractor forum such as this.
