John Deere 2020 diesel, Kubota M7060HDC12
After several months of researching and searching I found a new (to me) Kubota M7060HDC12 to replace my ailing, hard-used, 50 year old John Deere 2020. I spent a lot of time reading the posts and opinions on TractorbyNet, then finally joined up so first of all I want to thank all you good folks for all the great information I was able to glean here.

This is a 2015 model; according to the former owner he bought it in 2016. It came with a box scraper and pallet forks in addition to the bucket on the loader, and had only 179.5 hours on it when I drove it off the trailer here at home on my ranch outside of Winnemucca, Nevada. It has been snowing here for 8 days and snow is predicted just about every day for the next week so I've been reading my owner's manual to learn all the features and operations of this thing. What a difference from my old John Deere! But I found something that puzzles me in the manual, and it has to do with resetting the tripmeter. See photo of the pertinent instruction from the manual below. Does this thing actually have a tripmeter, like in my pickups that resets mileage? Or does it reset the hour meter? I would hate to reset the total hours on the tractor - that doesn't make sense. Does it actually have two hour meters - and I can reset one after an oil change, for example??

It's actually a handy feature if needed. It's a "job timer". So,,,, for example,,,,, you want to know how long it takes you to clear the pending snow from your driveway. Reset the timer to zero, do the job, read the timer. Great for owners that "hire out" their machines by the hour.

So why the devil does Kubota have to confuse things by calling it a tripmeter? That implies mileage!

A tripmeter would imply any device used to measure that can be reset. :)

Best not to try to understand a woman or manual, just take the default position and do what you're told. :)

DE71 - same operation as on mine. You have an hour meter than CAN NOT be reset and you have a trip meter THAT CAN be reset. Has nothing to do with distance traveled - both are logging hours of operation.

So I wonder if he is looking at the tripmeter (179 hours) vs. the real hour meter!?!

Welcome to TBN deserteagle, I have about 1050 hrs. on my tractor, and up until Richard's reply above didn't know I even had this:cool2:
Make sure to send us some pics of your high desert snow removal. Looks like a pretty place.

Well Teg - all I can say is - - your tractor OP manual will tell you: 1) how to switch from trip function to total hours of operation function and 2) how to zero out the trip function.

Mine has a small rod sticking out of the dash that you push to change function and/or zero out the trip function.

So I wonder if he is looking at the tripmeter (179 hours) vs. the real hour meter!?!

I saw this post late last night and thought boy, I wonder if TEG is correct. So at dawn this morning (10 warm and wonderful degrees showing on my thermometer) I walked out to the barn and checked. Both hourmeter and trip meter read exactly the same - 181.4 hours now. Looks like the previous owner never reset it and neither did the dealership - guy told me that's who did the first service. Got to play with the tractor just a little bit yesterday afternoon! What a change from the old John Deere! But now I have another question. When I was tractor shopping I noticed that some of the other tractors with cabs had a provision to operate the 3-point hitch while standing at the rear of the tractor. There is a major winter storm predicted for the next few days so yesterday afternoon I dismounted the box scraper that came with the tractor and mounted up my rear blade in case I need to move some snow. I could see no way to raise/lower the 3-point hitch other than to walk around the tractor and reach into the cab. Does this model Kubota not offer some way to operate the 3-point hitch from the back of the tractor?

I know how you must have felt. Go out - punch the button - find out there was really thousands of hour on the new tractor. What a relief - right.

I've seen the "rear rocker switch" that allows operation of the 3-point from the back. Its a rocker switch mounted on the back of the rear fender. Don't know if its standard or optional on the M7060.

Most of the tractors I looked at had that rocker switch. The New Holland had an actual lever on the back that apparently worked the same as the lever in the cab. I would have liked that feature - and I would have liked to have a New Holland simply because they are the nearest dealer - about a half hour away. Next closest was the Kubota dealer at 130 miles. Guess I'll just have to suffer living with my Kubota.......

Yes - we BOTH would like to have a fender mounted rocker switch. It wasn't so bad when I had the Ford 1700 - the implements were considerably smaller and a well placed "hip thrust" would move just about anything over enough to make connection.

I tried that just ONCE with my 1000# Rhino rear blade and the baseball sized bruise on my hip lasted a month.

I've found that a stout 'ol garden shovel works about best for moving implement that necessary inch to make connection.

Also - you will learn to REALLY APPRECIATE the extendable ends on your 3-point arms. They help a lot.

Somewhere on here is a thread about adding a lever at the back of the tractor for 3pt. I think it was actually a rod with a bent end handle protruding out the rear of the cab. Push/pull the rod for 3pt adjustment. It was homemade and very practical.
