This isn't pretty but I came across a set of led lights for little money and they fit in the area where the sealed beams are with no modifications. I tried to find a led lights that were roughly 4 x 6 but no luck.

Of course they are brighter than the stock lights and use less amps by 50%.

The top of the light wedges in to the top of the sheet metal opening and the bottom of the light mounts in the original stock mounting hole. I was considering making a shroud to go around the light but it's not worth the effort to me. I needed lighting up front and this should do the trick.

I wonder if the OE lens can still be used to make it look original.

i was thinking something similar. Maybe take a grinder and cut it off and somehow epoxy it into place or something?

That is possible. Or find a tractor bone yard with the same lenses to hack and form.
