Hi, I'm brand new to this board, and brand new to small tractors.

I think I have my final decision narrowed down to a new Massey GC2610 TLB.
Loader, Backhoe, 60" belly mower, 49" tiller, turf tires.

$23,900 minus 500 for an Ariens gt17 I'm trading in.

Anyone have this machine? Any input on attachments, or price, or anything else?

Steve

Welcome. I just hit 50 hrs on my Gc2610. I paid 22k in Oct 2011 for the 2610 with r4 tires. 60" mmm and front mounted snow blower. I just picked up from TSC a 48" County line tiller for subcompacts for $1260.( made by KK). So far I have beat the **** out of it. I have been using it to dig alot of stumps and move rocks close to 1600 lbs a piece. Rocks were only able to be moved by dragging them with the backhoe.

Have it narrowed to this, or the Mahindra.
The dealer tells me that the 1816 Mahindra has better horse at the pto, and much better lifting at the bucket, and 3pt.
Can't understand how it would be so much better, but then again the Kabota 2500bx numbers are blown away by the Massey.

Also, was gonna get the 60" belly mower on the Massey, but the dealer says I should get a 3pt mower instead. For ease of dismounting.
I prefer the belly I think, but I have no experience mowing with a rear mower.

I would love some advice on the mower. Can I easily remove and re-install the belly mower? or is this gonna be a pita?

I have a 2007 GC2310 (basically the same tractor). If you have a nice flat surface (say concrete).it really isnt that bad to remove/install the deck.
It can easily be removed in 15 minutes.

Th belly mower removes easily on a hard surface via 4 pins and shaft. I have mine off in a few minutes with ease. The hardest part is dragging it in out.

I also have the older model (2310), but I'm pretty sure the MMMs are the same. I place a sheet of plastic under the non-swivel wheels on mine, and it slides out sideways quite easily on my garage floor (concrete).

I think total time for install or remove, for me, is less than 8 minutes. Mower does a great job of cutting grass- very smooth.

A good item to have for it is a set of axles/wheels to be able to store it upright. Takes up very little floor space, and makes servicing the underside/blades very convenient.

Comparing with the Mahindra- how much bigger is it? That little GC, with plenty of power, will fit into some pretty tight spaces!

Wow, Irving, thx for the pics! That mower deck is built like a brick *house.
Looks really sturdy.
I have not visited the tractor in person yet.

Please anyone comment on turf tires?
I wanted to make some money back by mowing some yards in the summer, so I felt the turfs were important. Now I'm reading that some might feel they are not sturdy enough for my rough work? Are the turfs not that neccesary, or essential? Of course I wouldn't mind more traction, but I don't want the tractor unusable on finish lawns.

There are some l-o-n-g threads on the never-ending debate about tires on TBN...

In my experience: If I were to go into the woods a LOT, I'd want some tougher tires than the turfs I have; OTOH, for what I do --mostly mowing and snowblowing-- the turfs have worked very well, in some cases I'd say better than the "harder" tires. Their grip on snowy surfaces is surprising, as long as you're using a blower and can clear your own path as you go.

If you have to go through deep slush or mud, forget it. The turfs will load right up and become pretty much useless.

I Find that for traction r-4 are mildly better that turfs. They still clog with mud pretty quick and become slicks. They maybe more durable. Turfs will be better on soft lawns. Unless you have rocky steeps I would say turf.

as far as tires, I started with R4 and they will damage a lawn, some may say no way, and I listened to them, I went back to my dealer and purchased new turfs for about $450.00 all four, a lot less lawn damages and works great if using in snow, I feel unless you are working in rough areas, I have both and Turfs work better or should I say Turfs will work well in all conditions, my opinion !!:thumbsup:

I am so excited about getting my new tractor, I can't contain myself!!!!
Just got off the phone with my dealer, he had my pricing for accessories PHD, and a tiller, and he said my tractor is on schedule!

He said they have a serial number for my tractor, and it's almost ready to be shipped to him.:D
Will ship early next week, and on schedule for me to have it parked in my driveway by the end of the month!

Great, Dogscape! Yer gonna love it. VERY capable little machines. Mine does my lawn in about 1/3 the time of my old push mower, and actually uses LESS fuel to do it.

Which tires did you end up with? Are you getting anything to deal with snow? (Not that we have much this year....)

My dealer said I could go turfs or r4's for same price.
It's a real dilemma for me...
He ordered the turfs, and said if I try em out and decide I don't like em, he'll let me swap them for the r4's.
The thing I like is I could put chains on the turfs... the thing I don't like is I have some steep hills and woods I'll be working.

As for snow, I really didn't give that much thought as I've been plowing with my 1 ton truck and 9' fisher plow for a decade.
;)

If you like plowing with your truck, then keep using it, nothing says the little machine had to do everything, I know you want it too:D, Remember not to bring you down, when you get to your 1st 50 hours, service is needed, hope your dealer has mobil unit to come to your home to service maching or you will need to trailer to your dealer, service for 1st 50 hours is about $500.00 to $600.00 :( So use the machine but if you don't need to use in snow then don't :) Good luck and I'm sure we all want to hear if we advised you once you receive your new machine:thumbsup:

Hi Crop! Thx for the insight.
How much is involved in the 50 hr service? Is it something I could do myself?

Are you mechanically inclined? Engine oil, trans oil, front diff, plus changing filters, and cleaning screen.

Some will argue that the dealer should do it, as they go over it with a fine toothed comb.

Price it out both ways, you and done by dealer, then decide for yourself which way you want to go.

Good luck.
