New garage time!

I've never met a man that built his own shop and didn't wish he'd done something different. Those that are completely satisfied with their shop didn't build it. :D

I am a land surveyor and have done a lot of building layout in my day. I’m curious into pic you show a level on a tripod with a concrete block tied to it. Why? Interesting thread and enjoy the pics.

Maybe to keep the tripod more steady?

The tripods we used had feet to step them in. On very rare occasions I would set something on the feet of the tripod if it was really windy. You had to be really careful though so you wouldn’t throw it out of level. I was more being curious then being critical.

In the last several years we staked the building without even setting up on the building corners. I did always try to check tape and measure the diagonals if possible. They still do construction very similar to what the OP is doing around here.

I did the surveying myself, i stepped the feet in every time i set it up. That was the first day, my contractor set it up. I'm not sure why he set it up like that.

I always find myself servicing a vehicle parked half way inside and even the 10x10 doors on my attached garage become a pain. My new shop, still under construction, will have one door 14x16. If that doesn't work, I give up.

This is why I wanted no posts. 24x44 of unobstructed space. I can park one car in the middle if I want. Sure there will be a workbench and tool chests in the back. But that still leaves lots of open space.
