New Echo CS500P

Echo power ratings will be hard to come by for US specs. You can find the for other countries though. Not sure why they do not publish that in US, other than maybe their numbers are lower than the competition for the same cc.

The cs500p I bought showed less power than the ms250 I already had. There has to be something going on there, because the echo has more power. Maybe some brands arent as honest as others?

I don't see HP ratings on most small engines anymore.

The Echo is brand new as well. Likely if the Stihl was well used, it wasn't as 'strong' as the day it was born either. Tuning and maintenance can play into that 'feel' as well. Not likely any of us keep our machines tuned to their peak hp and efficiency.

While a well tuned MS250 cuts good it's no match for a CS500P. Most times well broken in saws have quite a bit more power brand new ones, if they are really old and wore out they will lose some. Also anyone the believes published HP numbers also believes in the Easter bunny. Steve

I ran my cs500 all day yesterday and i just keeps running better as it gets older. Granted it's fairly new, but the more I run it the better it gets. The weight is really great for the power it puts out. I'm really glad I bought this saw.

Thats what I was getting at. Seems echo Is at least honest with their numbers. And echo Is US assembled japan parts. I think Stihl shows inflated numbers, couple that with US assembled Chinese parts and I'm shopping elsewhere.
