new canopy

   / new canopy #21
You guys are OK when you can park Johnnie indoors and let the snow melt off. I spend most of the winter with 14-20" of frozen snow on top of my plywood canopy. Gotta weigh 250lbs by late Feb.
I just took a painted sheet of 3/4"plywood and fastened it to the ROPS with u-bolts. The rear sticks out just past where the hoe seat is,(when its on,) and the front is supported by two angle iron uprights from the FEL frame. (the plywood extends another foot or so forward). With another angle cross piece at the front and two "stiffeners" running down each side, its strong enough to support the snow in winter or stand on in the summer for changing bulbs in the barn, etc. I also hang my radio and work lights from it. T'aint purdy but it has caught a few falling branches when I happened to nudge a dead birch tree one day in the bush.
I keep meaning to install a plexiglass windshield for snow plowing but then I would also need a wiper......
