Re: NEW BX 23 ON IT\'S WAY

/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It just got here. Jim Crane took good care of me too. I wanted a BX 22 last year but funds were not permitting so he hooked me up with a used wheelhorse (for mowing and plowing). Treated me so well last year I also bought an Echo blower and trimmer (later last spring) This year after bribing my wife the Bota became a reality. I wouldn't buy a piece of equipment from anyone else. While Emerichs prices are the best around, the quality of their staff, and the way they treat customers even if you are only buying a 12 year old garden tractor really impressed me.

Re: NEW BX 23 ON IT\'S WAY

We have 2 goof ball pits, Radcliffe (almost 2) and Woody (around 1 we think) Woody has special needs (heart surgery, dislocated hind knees, damaged vertebra in his neck, broken tail, was 12 lbs when we found him on death row) 71 lbs 6 months later. Yet he is the happiest living thing We have ever seen. Go figure. Most dogs this bad are put down but this little guy grabbed my heart. The first job for the BX is to Fence in about 1.25 acres (most of our yard) The fence is to protect my dogs from people and me from liability. Breed specific legislation is being tried again in New York.

Re: NEW BX 23 ON IT\'S WAY

I hear ya. I got my pits from a pound in Springfield Ma. All the place is full of puts from the morons that breed to fight them. The two I got where back three times since there we let loss and their owners did not care.

Nothing more gets me upset then animal abuse! My rottie was brought to the pound because the owner was to cheap to pay for her hip operation (typical rottie problem when OVER WEIGHT)! Can you believe that, after 3 years he lets her go!!!! Never mind being 30 lbs overweight.

I love pits… they have SO much energy.

Yup the good old breed legislation. Yea, they are bad dogs, sure. Never I my book. It is bad uneducated owners and not the dogs fault!!! Don't get me going on that one

I think we have that in MA but I did not look into it. I figure with the family in law enforcement there should not be a problem, wink wink. Plus the wifes does dogs evals and they passed with flying colors! Also doing some agility, just for fun and they love it!!!

opps, sorry for the off topic. Let see some pictures of the new BX23..please..please /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

***If you need any help with the dog stuff let me know.

Re: NEW BX 23 ON IT\'S WAY

MA homeowner insurance policies specifically exclude coverage for certain dog breeds and I am sorry to report that Pits are one of the breeds that are on the list. I was unaware of this also until my vet told me about it last fall. He was inquiring if we had such a limitation on Home owners policies in CT. So far, we don't, but my insurance company did ask what breed of dogs and how many we have. 1 Weimeraner and 2 Mini Dachshunds. Lucky for us, none of these are considered "problem" breed dogs. Most people don't realize that Weimeraners were used for guard duty at one time. I remember back in the summer of 1966 when the country was having riots, the brewery in Newark NJ was protected against the vandals by a group of Weimeraners that patrolled the perimeter of the brewery. Not one person ever got over that fence! They can be every bit as intimidating as any Pit Bull. Pit Bulls have been given a bad rapp because of people that mis use them and abuse them. I remember them as a child as sweet lovable dogs. Back then, they were revered for their grace, not their fighting abilities.

Re: NEW BX 23 ON IT\'S WAY

Roxy can be foxy at times for sure! She is actually part coyote and quite a challenge. I almost got a PIT but I'd rather live with the Mrs. (if you know what I mean /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif) Then again, she agreed to a dog that is part coyote! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Go figure /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: NEW BX 23 ON IT\'S WAY

Junkman- I know what you are saying; the wife temper tested our dogs they passed. I would not get a dog that would be problems down the road. I have enough with the gun business too worry about. I feel that dog owners must take charge of the dog so that there will not be any problems.

Yup, pits are on the list but I told my insurance they are a dog. I do not know what kind, breed etc. Let them figure it out. Prove it to me since they do not have papers. Never mind that the people at the shleter only guess what kind of dog. The kicker is that pits were #16 on the list of most bite accidents in 2003. You would never guess what #1 was.

The #1 reasons why I HATE, yes hate, an insurance companies is that my insurance did not get reduced when I REMOVED an in-ground pool! How dumb is that? Never mind me being 15 feet from a hydrant in case of a fire got ZERO percent off. What I do is not right but prove it to me that I have 100% pits bulls or even a dog. Worry about the guns and the owner and not the dog…..he he he

The kicker is that pits were “formed” to fight other dogs, not people.

Never mind that the insurance people said nothing of the police K9's we had growing up. Talk about guarding the kids. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif They make my dogs look like kids game. The guarded us from people to leaves blowing by. God, I miss those dogs.....just do not go by the cruser when working..People thought I was nuts to go into the car. They know what is up...

***Oh, tell Jim C at Emerich I said hello. I will be stopping up in May sometime to get the sticking hydro pedal fixed.

Re: NEW BX 23 ON IT\'S WAY

Hey guys I've been moving by brother in law today, and I have to work on Easter so I haven't had time to post. Thanx for all the positive comments about Pits. It seems apparent to me that if public opinion was influenced more by responsible guys with tractors and dogs, instead of insurance companies and the liberal breed bashing for a headline media, America would be an even better place to live.

Re: NEW BX 23 ON IT\'S WAY

I would have used it to stuff that @#%* entertainment center, couch and love seat etc....etc... up to their 2nd story, but my BX wouldn't have fit through the front door. I've been working 14 hour days since so not much butt time. It's driving me crazy. I do check in the garage before and after work.
GSXR my wife brought Radcliffe for a pretest for the ATTS Temperament test today. He passed with flying colors. Hope he does as well on the real thing this weekend in Connecticut. One more step in the right direction. We may try therapy certification next. Also hope to start some agility this spring. Out OF THE PITS purchased some equipment last fall.
I don't know how stubborn your Rottie is but, Rad is a full blooded Colby and stubborn is his middle name. Sweet and very good natured but stubborn. So I have to disagree with you on the pitbulls not being stubborn thing.

Re: NEW BX 23 ON IT\'S WAY

My wife has rescue people that have the rottie or pits K9 good citizen cert. We were thinking of it with one of our pits but we do not have the time this year. Many next. Not to hard just need to work withthe dog alot.

I only have two pits (and the rottie) and we have evaled only about 15 before we got the last one. That took forever. She has only done rescue for over 8 with rotties and only like 2 for pits and we both agree that rottie are way more stubborn. It seems like pits like to learn, play etc when a rottie is not moving, they are not moving unless they are food motivated or "going for a ride" motivated. Again we have not done as much work as you but that is what we have found.

Rottie are slow and pits are full of it. Nevermind there tails always going. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif All the old rotties have their little nibs going!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif All new rotties per german breed standard are to have tails. Have you ever go to the goshen (sp) rottie show in CT?

Re: NEW BX 23 ON IT\'S WAY

Actually my wife and I have been at it less time than you, and we have no experience with rotties. I guess what I should have said was that some pits can be stubborn to. I've been told that it's a terrier trait. We have only been involved with Out of The Pits for a little over a year. We have been actively involved with Pits for about 5 years. Good friends of ours had to sell their family home (that my friends grand father built in the 1940's) because of the neighbors and local govt. They own two tiny female pits (40# each). and made the mistake of telling someone in the neighborhood what kind of dogs they were. Before it was all said and done they had to board their dogs for two months while they sold there home and purchased a new one. They just won the last lawsuit againt them over the whole thing. The woman next door claimed her dog died because of his dogs, and she was so afraid in her own yard that she fell down and broke her leg. A trip to her vet provided the info that the dog died from cancer. It's funny because they own a fitness club called Pitbull Gym. They are moving to a new location and expanding. He has become so afraid of the anti pitbull people up here, that he is changing the name of his business to the Amstaff club.
The BX is going to allow me to build a 1.5 acre refuge for my 2 pits. If I ever get a day off I'll post some Pix of my Dogs with the BX.
