New Branson 5520C

The same style valves work fine for the life of the vehicle in a sports motorcycle which has 180hp, and the valve is inside the fairing where it gets less air. A 55hp engine makes much less heat. Also diesels have cooler exhaust than spark ignition engines.

Branson already had a temp sensor on the DPF+DOC and the data logger reads it.

I wonder if Branson recommends a stopped regen (and monitoring it so you know when to turn it off) or its ok to work it during the regen. If the regens are just to deal with that small percentage of owners who have problems now, few people would ever need to do them.

Also diesels have cooler exhaust than spark ignition engines.

ericm979 , I don't believe that is right. diesels by nature are heat engines. and can produce quite high exhaust temps. i bought a standard gas engine glass pack for my Ford 3000 diesel.
It literally burned the packing out in about a weeks use- maybe just a defective packing but when i ordered a new recommended replacement it had no packing?

This new Branson exhaust system is interesting if it does restrict the flow. Have to wonder if it raises the in cylinder temps and pressures also.
I think the older model New Branson tractors will be in demand with the simpler exhaust.

For a gasoline engine and a diesel engine of the same power, whose exhaust is hotter? - Quora

"Gasoline engine exhaust will be hotter.

Gasoline engine air intakes are throttled, meaning the airflow is restricted by a valve to deliver only enough air to burn the fuel charge and no more. This ensures the exhaust gasses are minimally diluted and therefore hotter. Diesel engines have no air throttle and tend to run leaner, diluting the exhaust gasses with uncombusted air, reducing the exhaust temperature. "

The Branson exhaust valve would restrict flow during regen. That's it's job. The rest of the time it wouldn't. Like I said, valves like this are used on high performance sport motorcycles that make a lot more power than a Branson.

OK BTW some diesels Cummins for 1 had intake throttle valves at least at 1 point

And now also exhaust valve control on some medium duty truck engines for some markets

Cummins Turbo Technologies launches exhaust throttle valve | Cummins Inc.

from what i gather after treatment thermal management and exhaust braking, improve low throttle performance, EGR efficiency and smoother shut down - reduced shudder.

Yes i am familiar with 'Power valve' equipped ( 2 stroke And 4 stroke) bikes- the increased bottom end torque is noticeable

This stuff is changing so quickly it is hard to keep up , for me.

Still hoping someday new diesels will have the Bunsen Burner tech and not need any after treatment.

I thing I haven't seen mentioned and I don't see a 5520 on Bransons website yet, is the pto.
Is it a multi speed and if so what speeds?
I would hope that they at least have the 540/540E.

I was re-watching the video and at around the 2:30 min mark, there is the PTO speed selector for the 540 and 540E. Looks like they maintained that.

Yes it does have two PTO speeds. You can see it in this picture only a little blurry. Sorry.

Thats good to hear, I for one use the 540E as much or more then the 540.

Same here. Tilling and mowing at much lower engine RPM is awesome. Way less noise and much better fuel economy. There is a noticeable difference in fuel consumption on running at 1800 engine RPM versus anywhere above 2000 RPM.

Just for the kicks, I was tilling the orchards one of these days and decided to run 540E at 2500 engine RPM which puts the PTO at 750. I sure can till way faster but the gearboxes on the tiller were getting a bit too hot for my liking.

I was looking forward to having two speeds on the 4815. Was a little disappointed to find out they did not offer it on the 4815C.

Another overview video from the 5520 just popped up, from Alldees Tractor. This one is a ROPS model.

After months of waiting, I've finally taken delivery of a new Branson 5520CH tractor with BL200SL Self-Leveling Loader. Picked up the tractor on Oct 18, 2020. After a test drive, loading it on the trailer, and unloading at the property, total of ~3 hours runtime thus far.

The self-leveling loader is less than $1K above the cost of the standard BL200 loader. Both loaders are available for the 5520 (and previous generation 5220), but most dealers don't mention the SL option unless you ask, as it's relatively new. If you're paying cash, the standard loader is free ("instant loader rebate"), and the SL option is just the difference in cost between the two (BL200 vs BL200SL).

The rear fenders on the 5520 cab models are plastic just like Kioti and Kubota.

I'm starting to see references to the 5520 with year 2021, suggesting Branson may fully document and announce the new model next year. As of October 2020, the new model tractor still doesn't have a place on the product line-up at the Branson main web site.

Congratulations on your new tractor, do you have any pictures?

I noticed in the video the front axle is missing the stone guards on the steering rack... I just bought the new version of the 20 series and mine were missing as well. As far as shifting on the fly, I can tell you I have the 4 range HST and it will not shift on the fly. Mines a 3620H and I have the new cable routed stick and new exhaust. 12hrs on it so far and I love it!

Leon from Big Tex tracto, I believe, posted on Facebook that the 4 ranges model and future 15 series models will not have power steering cylinder shields due to new exhaust pipe style but that could change in the future.

Humm, thats funny. I told my dealer about it and he sent me some. Bolted right on. Oh, just so you know the part# you see on the 20 series parts manual is not correct.

So it won't hit the exhaust pipe if the axle pivots up on the left side?
