New 448/447 backhoes.

I have been looking at the new backhoes in the new 3000/4000 brochure. There is no shortage aof pictures of them. In the 4010 brochures there was maybe one backhoe pictured. I think there are six shots in the new book...

I haven't looked in the manual**, maybe I should. But, are the transport locks actuated by the two orange handeled levers at the console? That is a slick setup, if so... How many times have you gone to start using the hoe, only to have to climb back down and wiggle those pins free..

I assume the two levers directly behind the joysticks are the stabilizer controls. Can they be reached from the tractor's seat?

The new hoes are very robust looking. I doubt that many 47/48 owners will feel the need to trade up, as they are also great machines. But any that do should be pleasantly surprised by the subtle refinements.

The stabilizer levers can be reached from the tractor seat. You have to stretch a little, though. The orange levers are for the transport locks and are behind the console. I have about 70 hours of work time on my 448 and have no real complaints yet. I have only used Kubota hoes before this one, so I can't comment on different JD hoes, but the power from the pump is all there. I seldom hit relief, even when pulling stumps. The new hydraulic pumps are pretty stout on the 4X20 series, and I imagine the 3X20s are pretty similar.
