Tractor
John Deere 3320
First I want to thank the people who helped me in my decisions and options on this tractor. It made a big difference and I have a tractor better suited to my needs due to their help. Roy, Steve, AK, Dave, etc. Thank you.

The thumb is a gas! love the 3 speed box with the hydro and the power over the 2x20 series.

I didn't find it any more tipsy than the 2720 on the same hill but will need more time to evaluate it. Great tractor!

What will I miss from the 2x20 series? Maneuverability, the two's are great for that.

Beautiful! I'd love to have a 485 BH for my 3520. Now you need to update your profile.

Looks like you have a nice piece of land too. I have fond memories of visiting my great grandparents in the Catskills.

Rob,
Nice place there and a nice tractor too. I particularly like the backhoe, it seems large enough to do you some good.

Thanks Tango, I've been slowly clearing the land over the years since I built the house in '92 but I had the pond done professionally as it's 12 feet deep for trout to survive.

Great looking machine, Rob!!
I really like the 3320's. If I could have come up with the cash for a new machine a couple years ago, I'd of have a 3320 with power-reverser.

Congratulations, Rob! Great lookin' setup. I wondered if the 485 hoe would "dominate" the 3000 series frame size -- but, it really does look like a well balanced machine. Should give you years of good work and plenty of different ways to tackle "projects"!

Beautiful home as well! I can only imagine sitting out on the porch with a fresh cup of coffee looking out over the pond on a quiet morning... Mighty fine!

Thanks guys!

AK, I was a little concerned about the hoe dominating the machine too until I saw it on there. My dealer said the same thing before he saw it also.

Trout, huh? What time should I be over?:)

Seriously, nice looking rig. Have fun.

Rob, congratulations on the new, bad unit!

The hoe looks perfect on there. That's a new way of mounting the thumb I haven't seen before. You won't have to worry about bending the dipper stick with that design.

From your other thread, it sounds like you have lots of projects lined up for it working around your beautiful place.

Looking forward to some more action pics.

Beautiful machine, smart move on the vertical exhaust.
Thanks, because of your excellent pictures, I now know what my thumb will look like.

Nice ride Rob.

JD parts have a nice rubber grip steering wheel SpinnerKnob that will really help with the maneuverability factor. PN TY26584 for green top & Logo - couple of bucks more with silver top.

Last summer one of my boys was looking after my things for a couple of months. When I returned there was a small tear in the vinyl seat exactly like might happen if someone sat on the seat with a screwdriver in back pocket. A new seat is around $400. For now, found very nice JD fitted seat cover PN LP95233 - will also fit 2x20 with high back seat.

First few days I thought the 3320 felt "tippy" but installing rear wheels on "wide" and getting used to the tractor seems OK for any hill that I care to traverse sideways. I tried the front wheels on "wide" also, but in my case they rub on the MMM on sharp turns so set them back to normal.

Big difference in fumes. My 2720 killed me literally! Once and awhile I get a very faint scent of fumes but not a problem. For those of you who think the fumes are harmless, read the owners manual. The first page talks about the danger of diesel fumes in bold letters.

The thumb is a beast!

Cinder,
Thanks for the part info.
I asked my dealer to move the tires into the wide position but in the rush to get it out he forgot. I'll lift it on the BH stabilizers and do it this week. I'll do the fronts too as I don't plan on getting a MMM.

Mjncad,
It's dirty!

RE: Diesel fumes - if you don't want the front part of the FEL park stand to turn black - consider some sort of extension / diverter for the exhaust. It's not particularly noticeable until one day the paint is all black and it doesn't want to come off.

I ordered the vertical exhaust because I liked how it looked. The tractor was delivered without it because the kit was backordered so I have been using it for a few weeks without it. I have noticed the fumes more than I thought I would.

My vertical exhaust just came in and the dealer will pick up my tractor to install it later this week. I am looking forward to smelling the fresh air.

Tango,
Before I bought this tractor I had long talks with the TBNers about how effective the vertical exhaust is. Now that I have used it for a few hours I'd say it really makes a difference. You'l notice I run mine to the side, you can run it to the front but I was told the diesel odor is more pronounced. Also it comes off easily to open the hood which I was concerned might be a problem for the few times I do need to open it. The battery on the new tractors is sealed so I can check everything from the outside and only need to open the hood to clean the screens or change filters. All and all I'd say it's a worth while option and 2520 - 2720 owners bothered by fumes might want to find a way to rig one up. (the 2320, although it's not good, isn't as bad for some reason).
I like the fact that I won't have the soot on my loader and blower. For someone on and off the tractor as much as I am the vertical exhaust is a blessing.

Rob
