I've seen others report the same, and always thought it was weird. I guess I've just been lucky to have landed models or years where they don't do that.My 1996 jd870 would kill the engine if i left the seat under any conditions. Just to raise up a bit to see over the hood…..engine dies.
I have owned four Deere's, and none have operated that way. Mine have been 1986 (855 MFWD), 1990 (garden tractor), 2007 (757 ZTrak), and 2019 (3033R). I won't pretend to remember how the 1990 garden tractor worked, I think we sold that one in 1992 when I inherited a heavier Wheel Horse, but all others would only shut down when leaving the seat if PTO was running.
