I've a '88 John Deere 240 that had the single cylinder Kawasaki replaced with a twin cylinder B & S. I traded for it and had to repaint tractor/deck and rebuild engine, new throttle and choke cables, new ignition and mower clutch, light switch and reupholstered the seat put Oregon blades on and new belts and new battery and starter, but I love the thing. Heavy built front axle and cast iron steering box. The Daughter and I mow a 1/2 acre and then lawn sweep so it sees plenty of hours in the summer. It does use some gas though, but just no free lunches on yard maintenance. bjr
