if your lookin for a utv to go hunting and go through really nasty places then i would get the rhino or t-rex. they have a good 4x4 system and they are very narrow infact i think out of all of them the rhino is probably the narrowest. i had a hpx and i have a rhino and to get around in the woods with close trees you can't beat the rhino.

And if you ever get a super heavy snow storm in the swamps down there, you'll be thrilled how they will go in the snow with a full smooth skid plate under them and aggressive tires. ;)

I've seen videos on YouTube of guys having all but the top of their roll cage and snorkels sticking out of the water and still going. How do they keep from ruining everything in their dash? Do they just cover them with silicone?

 Before or after your ride? My guess is both.:)

Steve

I was running through the woods with a snowplow attached....Can you guess the order of things?:D

what up dargo man it's been a while. they do go through alot of stuff as for as the dash it must me sealed pretty good because i have put mine in swamps and ponds where the water is up to my chest sitting in the rhino and it keeps going. i do take all my electrical connections apart and dielectric grease them twice a year so that keeps the current flowing. my snorkels go about half way up the rops i plan on going a bit higher next summer.i miss my old work horse hpx but the rhino is a bit smaller and has a softer ride so i stick with it for now. i'll try to dig up a pic or two of my swamp machine. just remeber if your gonna go deep buy you a tube of dielectric grease and pack all connections and snorkel it as long as the motor can keep a spark and get air she will run.

Man, you've got some meat hooks on that Rhino. I can see where it would keep on pulling! We had the least amount of rain this summer than we've had since 1930. We had zero mud to drive through. My lake was so low that I spread 200 tons of sand in one part of it where we swim so the bottom wouldn't be just goo and mud. I also built a volleyball sand pit up on shore. With the lake being 5' low and my excavator able to go into about 3' of water, I was able to spread sand about everywhere you can normally touch bottom.

When we finally got rain, we got 5" of rain over a weekend and not one bit flowed into my lake and the creek next to me stayed dry! The ground was that dry. It all got soaked up. I'm hoping for more rain now so my lake can start filling up again.

yea i went with the wide outlaws because well for one i never tried them out and wanted too and i needed a tire that would roll on top the mud at low throttle and these do. and i figured i would try another tire when i had my hpx them 589's did what they was supose to do they pulled me through some really nasty stuff and lasted forever. but these outlaws they are just plain awesome i go through alot of stuff in 2 wheel drive i like my rhino because it can get me there and back and go in between the trees unlike wider utv's but i do miss the power of my hpx she was a great worker and never complained. my buddy was stuck in his daully 1 ton and he was hooked to his camper so i hooked on to him with the rhino now it did pull him out but a few weeks later i noticed both engine mounts on the drivers side went out it's just not made for the pulling and hauling like the hpx was but she tries.lol

Timswi - when you had your RTV 500 was it just the regular HST tranny or the "new VHT" tranny kubota is listing as what the 500's have now. I read the threads you posted a year ago about the sluggishness up hills that wasn't resolved until the servo was adjusted. I'm wondering now if the 2010 or 11' models will have this issue or the VHT tranny is all new?

I honestly don't remember. Seems that either Kubota or the dealers took care of the servo adjustments. Seems that every one posting here that wasn't an early adopter is very happy with their 500's. Not an issue to worry about anymore so it appears.

737pilot and I bought 2 of the first 500's ever born..So there are usually issues around that. We solved them though.

Believe me, the 500 will do anything to ask of it. It's just not fast..Plenty of torque. Did whatever I wanted. Only bought the 1100 because of the HVAC.

My 1100 has the HST plus...Don't even know what "plus" does..Gimmik perhaps.

Get the one with a cab.

I looked at JD Gator purchased a Kubota RTV900 work site model and added a front winch. I have about 130 hours on it and it's been great. Once I used it to drag about 1,000 feet of fence (after it was knocked down) and the Kubota did not even notice it. I found my RTV900 is the very quiet. It's the only peice of my equipment I'll fire up at 6am not to bother anyone that lives close.

it's not fast nor a thrill seeking fun ride, but if you want to hall, dump, and pull your Zmower out of the mud...it's great.

I view a cab on these as a hinderance. I like to jump in and out of mine and go through trails...cab would get in the way.

If the machine is more work go for the Kubota Diesels! They are powerful and just never seem to give up.

I have used about all of them. I have a Yamaha Rhino. I use it with the local police dept during foot pursuits and tracking.

The Polaris' Ranger they are so jerky. A little throttle will about dislocate your neck! I really hate these machines. Don't even try to haul a bucket of water in the back the first time you put it in gear all the water will be everywhere.

The Arctic Cat Powlers are ok but though that field a now 1000cc motor they still seem a little short on power.

The Rhino's are great they are narrow and great for getting through the woods. they are a 2 seater and now with the fuel injection they are even better!

If your really looking for a good machine, I would still go for the Kubota 900. Lots of power, they are diesel!, and they haul 3. Then the work models have dump beds and all the little goodies to go with.
