I got a little less than 2 acres. I'm looking to get a zero turn mower that will last me a looong time and will get the job done pretty quickly. I would rather spend a little more up front to have it last. This is my first mower purchase and I dont know much about them or how long to expect them to last. I've just started looking at Cub Cadets, Dixie Choppers, Exmark, and Big Boys but I dont have my heart set on anything. Any suggestions or comment would be greatly appreciated

Exmark and Skag rule in my part of the country. Dixie Chopper and Grasshopper are big as well.

I have both a Scag and an older White FR1800 front mower zero turn. I like the ruggedness of the Scag. It is built well and easy to service. I have quite a few blue spruces with branches all the way to the ground and the front mower on the White is great for getting under the branches where as you would get all scratched up if you tried that with the Scag.

I mowed commercially for over twenty five years. Had the contract for dfw airport faa buildings and lone star race track. I had exmark and skagg zero turn and the skagg out performed the exmark. It did cost more but it also brought more when I sold them. Just be sure to grease the zerts monthly and you are good to go.

If I was buying I would look at the kubota or grasshopper. If you are wanting a long lasting mower stay away from the big box store selection cub cadet for example. Cub cadet does make some good mowers but you will not get them at home depot for example.....

There is alot of good zero turns on the market now days!

Skag is the best built that I have looked at. My neighbor has a Ferris zero turn. It has a suspension system. While I am beating my brains out he it looks like he is gliding over a smooth lake.

Hustler has some real nice machines.
Can't hurt to check them out.
