Quick Hitches Need a quality quick hitch

The Agri Supply QH comes with the top hook that sticks out a little further. They also carry a mower adapter for $12.99.

Not sure if this is the shaft extender I bought but it says it extends the shaft 4-3/8" which is just right for adding a quick hitch. They don't show a picture of it. The one I bought is quick release like an air coupler that you pull back on a collar, push the splines on, and let the collar go to secure it on the PTO spline of the tractor.

I bought my finish mower after the fact and do not use the extender with it but my brush cutter already had the shaft cut a little short. I can also use the AS adapter on my finish mower top connection while on my brush cutter I use a short piece of chain and just stick one pin through one of the hook bolt holes.

That's why I bought the Agri-Supply QH. A lot less people complained about the upper hook clearance issue with it.

So far, the only implement that didn't need any hitch revision is my EA 8's grader blade; the QH fit it like a glove. My LMC box blade, on the other hand: a massive PITA. My TSC rock rake required some revision, but it was fairly easy due to it's light construction and 3ph design. My Bushhog 6' 286 bushhog was also pretty easy.

Now 3ph implement changes take just a little longer than SSQA implement changes.

Have been able to do all my modifications with bolts nuts and spacers. Haven't had to do any welding. The worse was my landscape rake that had a single angle support from just under the to pin to the rear. I just replaced the support with two pieces of angle cut to length and drilled with a spacer in the middle. My top hook connects to the spacer I installed on that one.

I spent a lot more on my Quick Hitch from Land Pride. I had given thought to the Habor Freight unit till I watched a few you tubes. Nearly every one they said you had to modify or buy extra things to hook to all your equipment. The last one was one all bent out of wack when the fellow got stuck in the mud with a tool on the quick hitch.

The Land pride QH 15 hooked up nicely to my L3301 Kubota. Came with bushiungs for the small size lift pins also. back up to my back blade and hooked the bottom pins. Removed the 2 pins from the top hook sliped it thru the back blade top pin and reinstalled those 2 pins with the hair pins.

Works the same way on the box blade, rear cultvator and brush hog. I did it the same way on the finish mower but the hook have to be hooked a lot higher on the QH so will probably made a mod to thre finish mower.

Best thing I see to do with a HF QH is to remove the bolts holding rhe top hook in place and buy removable pins that fit in their place.

Also since I can not see my hooks when backing up to a tool and line the pins to the hook I painted an arrow on the top of the QH as a line up mark.

I'll 2nd or 3rd that.

I finally replaced the expensive QH prep kit I got with my flail mower. It was for CAT2 height instead of CAT1 or something. Mostly just some bar stock with holes in it. But had to pull the pins & adjust the top hook height before hitching up. I've modified every impliment I have or have had that wasnt QH compatible except my old Gannon box blade to be QH compatible. Worth the effort if you are handy & sold on QH.

Ok guys I finally got around to using my Harbor freight QH today. Having got this thing a few weeks ago, it has taken me some time getting to it so here goes.
The hitch came with a surprise as I had expected the top hook to need work, like some welding to move the hook out farther well, mine came already done so no problem there, must be a change in design at HF stores as someone listened! The hitch was super easy to install going right on my L2501, so far, so good! Next thing was connecting my flail mower so after installing the pins, I backed up to the mower and right off everything aligned so I picked it up a few inches then got off and looked the levers down..After adjusting the mower I ended up disconnecting the mower, lowering the top hook two holes then remounting the mower, again all is well. Next up, the pto shaft; so after some measuring and re-measuring again and again have decided I need a new shaft as mine had been cut once already and not enough left I'm thinking after loosing the 4 inches from the QH mounting. I do have 7 inches plus some, inside when fitting the two shaft pieces inside one another but as 12 inches I'm told is minimum? I will need a new shaft looks like. Also checked for enough clearance between the pto shaft and the QH horizontal bar, lots of room there both max up and max down so another non-issue looks like. Lastly, I put the mower on the ground adjusting my skid angle then motored all around the field both up hill and down all at low engine speed without any issues.

Thanks for all the help on understanding the QH use and potential pit falls as well, I pray it lasts a long while with no breakage, bending or other problems. Once getting a new shaft I should be ready to go mowing again.

Yes, exactly. These pins take just a moment to change.

Tip - you can hook an implement that has interference under its top cross-pin, by installing the hook upside down over that cross pin.

My qhitch also made a great foundation for a lifter I made out of old exercise equipment, to convert a spike harrow from drag-only. The harrow is still pulled by chains but now there's a toolbar in the qhitch that pulls the chains, and a pulley for a compound lift in the top of that mast. The mast is mounted in place of the qhitch hook, using one of the removable pins.

If you don't already have these, adding a slip clutch or over-run clutch might add the shaft length you need. Or just a simple pto extender.
