Fred, as it turns out what you described is exactly what happened. Back in 2014 an oak branch popped the left rear taillight off. I had to remove the guts from the housing in order to drill two new bolt holes. The guts are symmetrical and somehow I got the 1156 and 1157 bulbs backward. After sending 18v through the system, I presumed that the problem was related and lacked motivation to chase down electric gremlins in a meadow. [snip]

Hats off to Fred on this one. Well done!

Eric, clever work with the come-along and chain binder to straighten the hydro filter housing.

I was thankful I was able to get my tractor out of the area were it happened as I barely had any reverse pedal, and then to top it off, the tractor wanted to regenerate (which is odd since the dealer forced a regeneration one hour of engine time before--all I can assume is that the tractor was idling at the attending dealer's shop never warming up and the DPF loaded up). Anyway, I got it out of the woods, got it on my trailer, let it run long enough to regenerate, shut it down, and that's about where I started making my video.

Eric, I enjoy your videos, you and I both know this was not one of your more intellectual vids. but I appreciate it, and got a good laugh :drink:

Thanks! That was the very first and last time I used the BXpanded pharanna toothbar (a sharp-edged toothbar made to cut brush on the ground) to take out saplings. Compared to doing it by hand it was awesome and my giddy laughter captured my glee with my new tractor!

On that video, besides just being fun, you can get a good feel for the linked pedal function of his Kioti. He is just pushing on the forward and reverse hydrostat pedals, but if you will notice the tachometer, his engine speed is varying along with the forward and reverse motion. Unlike a typical hydrostat where you just set the engine speed with the hand throttle and leave it, with the "linked pedal" the tractor will vary it's own engine throttle as more or less hydro pedal is applied.

I'm speculating that Doosan and Daedong co-developed the engine management software or that Doosan developed the engine management while Daedong developed the engine. My conjecture is based on the Delphi diagnostic products where the same products work on both the Doosan and Daedong 1.8L product family. http://europe.delphi-dso.com/uk/downloads/DELPHI TEST EQUIPMENT.pdf

As well as the fact that Doosan just signed a new contract with Daedong to supply engines. Doosan Global : DI Signs Engine Supply Contract with Daedong Industrial, Korea's No. 1 Agricultural Machinery Manufacturer

Hard to tell with these industrial companies as they tend to pool resources together when it makes sense fort them to do so.

Looks like Doosan will be providing not only engines for Daedong (Kioti) but Tong Yang Moolsan (TYM) and therefore Kukje (Branson) also.

Also these engines will not have DPF filters. That will be cool.

These are all relatively big engines though (>3 liter) so unlikely to be for the CUT market.

I haven't read through this entire thread (I'd need to take a week off work) but from what I have seen, I don't know whether to be encouraged or afraid of the durability and engineering of a Kioti NX series. Seems like every post I looked at was a discussion about a broken part or fixing a broken part:shocked:

Do all of the CUT's out there (JD, NH, Kub, ect) suffer from the same lack of protection to critical components?
