MX5800 coolant level

Popped the hood on my MX5800 to blow out air filters & radiator screen & saw the the coolant was just below the LOW mark on the little opaque overflow bottle. Is that normal for a cold engine (hadn't ran in days)? If not, do I just add coolant to the radiator when it's cold?

Is that 'overflow bottle' pressurized? Have a radiator cap on it (like VWs used to) ? or is it really just an overflow and recovery bottle? Probably the latter. I'd look in to the (cool) radiator under the pressure cap. If the liquid is covering the cores well just put the cap back on tight and add some to your overflow tank. The coolant level in the overflow tank is of less interest than that in the pressurized radiator.

As above by JWR,radiator should be full when cold and cap is removed.
If it is full and tank is a little low,most likely some evaporation loss has occurred.
Just add distilled water to the tank,to the full mark,and your concentration should be just right!

I usually keep my overflow reservoir around half full when cold. That way it has room for expansion but does not allow it to run dry when cooling down.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys, here's a pic of what I'm talking about, should have posted it to begin with. So add coolant to this so it's 1/2 way btwn the low & full marks or add some to the radiator itself?

Fill the overflow tank to the max line and check the radiator as well.

Never rely solely on that overflow tank. Always check the radiator as well, with cold engine of course.
