motor locked up

Not very good at the search function, I have a international 2424 that was a airplane toter. It ran a couple of years ago but now when I went to work on it the motor is locked up tight. Is there a process everybody uses to un stick one? Help please, thanks for reading my post.

Check the fluids in the crankcase to see if there is to much fluid causing a hyd lock. Oil, water, gas or diesel, whatever.

If so, drain and refill to correct level.

I have heard of people using a mix of ATF and kerosene to free a stuck engine.

ATF and Acetone is the best.

Sounds like the pistons are seized from sitting too long.
Pour something in the cylinders as suggested,( remove plugs for gas and glow plugs or injectors for diesel). Let er sit for a few days and try it again.

Penetrating oil works great. We have this in our shop and it works for most everything.

Don't keep trying to move the engine on the starter.
Get a wrench on the front pulley, move it it one way and then the other.......just like you would if loosing a bolt or a nut.
Then let it rest with some more penetrating oil into the top end if needed.
Do it again the next day.
Patience is the operative word. Those rings will break free sooner or later.

I agree, :thumbsup: do not use the starter, unless you have a spare on hand.

Better yet, remove the starter and use the ring gear to pry on against the starter opening in the block. Best leverage, only small motions, and no breaking crank bolts.

You can also hook on to it and drag it to try and bust it loose.
