Looking to buy a zero turn mower this coming spring. My situation is I have arthritis in my lower back. I遏・ mowing about 10 acres. I was considering buying the Ferris 3200z 61 inch deck with the 37 Briggs. My question is is there a more comfratable zero turn mower out there then this. Im not worried about getting a cut that looks like a golf course or anything. Just have a ton of grass to mow and it痴 not the most groomed land. Just looking out for my back for the future. I see numerous zero turn mowers have there own version of suspension but who has the most comfratable. The reason I want a zero turn is trying to save time with mowing. I love mowing and dont mind spending all day doing it it痴 just really hard now since we started filling the house with kids.

I had a Country Clipper. It used a joystick at the end of the right arm rest for directional control so I felt I was able so sit in a more relaxed position with my back against the seat-back than on a mower with the two handles. The seat "suspension" was a couple of coil springs underneath and I replaced them with "lighter" coils to give a "softer" ride. Had to be careful - to soft a ride resulted in bottoming out on big bumps. I had 3 1/2 acres of ex-pasture land.

I also have major lower back problems. Before the 2017 mowing season I bought a Hustler Super Z HD with 72" deck and air suspension seat to mow my rural property. The air suspension seat is a huge improvement over the mechanical coil spring suspension seat I had on a previous mower. Post mowing back pain has been significantly reduced. Don't know if the Ferris has an air suspension seat available, but if they do it might be the best of both worlds for comfort. Vic

I have a Bobcat ZTR. I had neck fusion about 7 years ago. The seat coils on the cat was wearing me out. I sunk money into their suspension seat, have not regretted it. Wouldn't mind having one on my Mahindra 1526.

Get the air suspension seat, most higher quality zero turns offer one, also get the heavy lawn roller out and start rolling it to smooth it out.

Unless your 10 acres is super smooth I'd suggest the biggest tire CUT you can get with a mid mount mower and a long travel air suspension seat.

Even with an air seat, ZTR's are a rough ride unless you regularly roll your lawn to make it perfect and you have no rocks, trees or tree roots.

If it were my 10 acres of lawn I'd be tilling 8 of those acres and getting a farmer to plant something useful and have that land generate a little income.

It use to be half hay fields and half pasture. I知 planting an orchid in half of it and the other half is by my pond I知 making it nice so I kicked the cows out from around the pond. And some of it will be used for meat chickens. If I wasn稚 doing anything with it I would of never mow r that hay off of just to have an open field of grass. All but a small part will be filled with apple, pear, peach, plum, cherry, and nut trees. And another section is going to be filled with hardy kiwi, red and black raspberries, and a lot of blueberry bushes. Another reason I want a zero turn since I値l have a lot of obstacles to mow around.

I'd imagine a Ferris with suspension and an air ride would be about the smoothest riding machine, or the Toro with a floating platform and air seat. Don't know if those combinations can be purchased from the dealer.

I have a Hustler X-One with the same air Grammer seat. Love the ride. Couple that with the Ferris suspension and you should float over any rough ground.

Check out the Toro my ride. I bought one last year and I just love it no regrets. It has a platform that is suspended somewhat independently from the mower. It is a huge difference and I didn’t think it was overly priced.
I went with the Toro HD my ride they have it in multiple options now

Someone mentioned going with a CUT with bigger tires. If you have wide open spaces to mow, think about it. I have a bx and b Kubota both with mmm and turfs. When I first mowed with the bigger b, I was both amazed and shocked at how much more comfortable the bigger b was. It is a night and day difference. The bigger tires just smooth out the dips, bumps and shallow roots. The bad news is if you have a lot of trees and landscaping to mow around like I do, the bigger beast becomes a pita.

I'm real happy with my 2100Z, the suspension does a nice job on my rough ground. I've had lower back pain back when I used a ride-on lawn tractor to cut, can't remember ever getting off the Ferris and feeling sore. You can also add a suspension seat to one for extra cushion. I recall seeing a youtube video about someone putting one on a Ferris, don't remember how to find it though.

Yea I mow with a mahindra 1533 with a 72 3pt hitch finish mower right now. My small craftsman finally crapped the bed I used to mow around the house with it. Mowing with the mahindra works fine for now it痴 just slow and now trying to get around the house with that big tractor leaves a lot of graas uncut. It to big to get around the trees I have around the house

The bigger the tire will need a bigger hole!

The Ferris Independant Suspension ZTR mower ride can't be beaten by anyone.
Are there less expensive mowers?
Oh, you bet but at what price to your spine.
Not to mention the amount of meds you'll have to ingest.
I wanted to about die for using a Scag for years.
Until I happened upon a Deputy friend of mine that had a '03 Ferris he was trying to sell.

That was the last year of their non-suspension models.
I beat that thing until last year.
Think about that for a second.
I operated an '03 lawn mower till '17.
That's why I opted for their IS2600Z diesel.
What a ride!! Like mowing in your easy chair and so much quieter than a gas engine.

Begin like I did. Buy used commercial to begin.
You'll never look back at the Big Box Store mowers ever again.
