Here is my Middle Buster/ tater plow/subsoiler that I built. I was looking at them online and some of the cheaper ones were only 30 or 40 pounds shipping weight. The heaviest and most expensive was 100 pounds. I thought "**** I can build one better than that. So I did. I bet mine weighs 150 lbs. I ordered the 14" middle buster blade and the "ripper blade". Even though they said they weren't interchangeable I figured it wasn't nothing a cutting torch wouldn't fix. I just slotted one bolt hole. Anyway I plowed eight rows of taters out with it today and it worked "just like store bought".

Looks good!

Do you think it would be prudent to incorporate a shear pin type deal in case you encounter an immovable object?

A shear pin would be a good idea. Especially if you have roots. Which I don't have, but may give it a think.

I would guess your tractor would stop moving forward before you bust anything on that. I am interested to know why you moved the check chains on the lower link arms.
