Sickle Bar Mf model 41 sickle mowing angles???

How far below horizontal does a Massey ferguson model 41 sickle mower mow. I read it will mow 15-70 def below horizontal. Is that correct. Anyone out there have first hand experience with one. I want to use it to mow pond and lake dams. Please let me know.

70 below and 90 vertical is typical. Ken Sweet

The manual says 7 deg above level to 7 deg below level. I have the MF31 mower which only works in the horizontal position.

Hm again lol. Lot of variation. Does anyone actually have one that they use and own so I can a better idea?

I've had a couple #41's over the years. (Bought to re-sell) Used 'em just to check 'em out before selling. I don't know what the maximum up/down cutting angles are, but I do know they'll work at something close to a 45degree angle. (I used 'em to mow pond banks)

Decent mower, but parts are kinda hard to come by. Vermeer made them for Massey.

Oops, made a mistake. The +/- 7 deg refers to the angle of attack of the mower bar measured around a line parallel to that bar. It's not the angle you're interested in for mowing ditches. In fact, there's no information in the MF41 mower manual about mowing ditches. So maybe you can adjust that angle as Ken Sweet suggests.
