LD1...
A buddy of mine in the Optimist Club runs a tow recovery service...
Makes his living with tow trucks...
He put close to 700K on his last Power Stroke...
His last two trucks were Rams...
Just signed the papers on an new 5500 with up fitter on the tow rig...
Close to 90K...
Says it is the best riding truck he's ever owned in that class...
A 5500 or 4500 may not be in the cards for you but just wanted to bring it up...
Good luck and keep us updated...
I appreciate your posts on here...

YEa, similar to what I would like. But add a few years and 100k to the clock and take $15k+ off and it would be in the right ballpark

The price might be nice, but a 2003 from South Haven, Michigan on a wholesale lot.

Yea, last thing I want to do is go backwards in age. Going from a 2005 to a 2003....not my idea of a step up

I can understand that. However, if you can find one that's sound mechanically and not corroded all to heck, @ $16,000 VS $45,000, well, what can I say? I'm cheap. ;)

A 2003 that’s not rusted up would be a huge improvement IMO. I’m not making any claims to what that truck is or isn’t.

Do both of what? The heavier series trucks need the 19.5s because regular 16s can稚 take it.

2003 and up 2500-3500 all have 17's to clear the larger calipers introduced in 03- but as you posted a 4500 is more truck for sure
Not sure what the new dually 3500 that will tow 30k comes with but it probably bigger than a 17

I’ve never looked at 17’s. Is the load rating higher than 16s?

Not sure, they maybe?? I had a spare set of E rated 16 tires and wheels from a Ram 2500 ( 1999) given to me but could not use them since they would not clear the calipers on my 03 3500 Ram Iirc the max load was higher on the 17's but they were different brands to

The larger wheels allow for bigger (diameter) brakes. That's how they are driving up the gvw's of these newer trucks, not so much the tires unless you get above about 12k. maybe 14k with a dually.

Dump bed + g/n + 23kish. A tire capacity is by load range not diameter.

Nice looking truck, enjoy.

The 2016 cab and chassis doest "spec" a whole lot more HP and torque than my old 2005

But the 6-speed aisin....this thing tows like a dream. And the auto-exhaust brake...thats awesome.

Nice looking truck. Hopefully it will give you at least as many good years as the last one did.
