In reality what occurred was industry wide standardization of the diagnostics (aka: OBD port) and that allowed companies to make and sell scan tools to diagnose issues. I have a fancy Snap-On one and a cheaper Autel and both will not only give you the fault code but they will pinpoint the failed component and the Snap-On will even connect to the net and suggest replacement components. Both have saved me a bundle. My wife has a loaded Suburban and it's all electronic and I'd be lost without the diagnostic tools. having said that however, all the tractor manufacturers, from Kioti to John Deere have no standardization of diagnostic ports and no way of downloading or even reading trouble codes without a dealer only scan tool and that in my humble opinion is total BS.

Like automotive, the scan ports for the ECM/ECU's should be standard across the board, not everyone using their own protocols. All that does is marry you to a dealer for the useful life of the unit because other than changing the fluids and greasing it and filters, you cannot repair anything. without paying a dealer at X dollars an hour to read your trouble codes.

Finally, even though every make is different, they all share the same basic emissions components, made by 3rd tier suppliers like Bosch for instance.

I'll stick with my pre 4 engines because of that. With proper care and feeding I expect them to outlast me. My one Kubota has 6000 meter hours on it and I just had it in the shop for a tune up and the injectors tested. Came back with an A+ health report. My Kubota tech told me at 6K, she's just 'broken in'. I'm good with that. At 70, I'm broken in as well. I was standing there when he pulled the valve cover off. Was as clean inside as new. Not a speck of sludge, no varnish and no blowby. Inside top of the valve cover was clean as a whistle. I change the oil every spring and use the same oil every time, Shell Rotella T6. Gearboxes get Chevron All weather THC synthetic every 3 years with filters. Both units at the same time, no exceptions. Front ends get Shell Spirax 80-90 GL5 gear oil.

Never had issue one with either and I farm with both of them so they get worked. Both have loaders, both have 2 speed PTO's. One has a cab, other is open station. One is a 2002, other is a 2004.

The company I listed has hacked virtually every manufacturer list, or copied from the service manual, they giving away the software. They got video of a Kubota tractor and the forced regen screen so right now $750 and you are in. They done all road trucks, off road, now tractor. At $750 when warranty is gone it won't take but one trip to pay that bill. I may keep Ktac forever

Supposedly number one problem is bad fuel, I hope KTAC covers mine then only $250 bill and that includes pickup and delivery

Never insured with them, my equipment is all covered under the farm blanket policy. Even the new side by side is on the farm policy. I suppose once the 5 year emissions warranty is kaput it might be advantageous but not sure on that either. Will all depend on what the government emissions police do do aftermarket tuning outfits. I see they are clamping down on some (hefty fines). Not something that concerns me at all. None of my diesel powered tractors or trucks are T4 and that includes my Class 8 International Eagle Conventional. It has a 3406 Cat, mechanical injection. (B) model.

Not happening here and never will.

They had to, either that or get taken over the coals buy some shrewd attorney. The emissions controls are a bust. Thinking about it, I believe they did and more than once too.

Simple answer (cheaper too), buy a used but well cared for Pre 4 tractor but don't fiddle around, as more and more people come to the realization that post 4 units will most likely be problematic down the road (useful lifespan), the prices are increasing on used units constantly.

I like that, I own 2 M9000's.

My 2 Ms (126x & 135x) are pre tier 4 as well and Im keeping them. My Massey 7495 as well. I noticed when the Gs came out to replace my Ms they had a nicer buddy seat and a 24 speed to replace the 16 speed. That was the bait to get us to overlook the tier 4.
Never took the bait. My Ms have everything I really need and then some. The Massey is an IVT with everything I could ever want, even air and hydraulic brakes for trailers and front & cab suspension.
You just have to find loaded up pre tier 4 equipment. That’s the secret.
Now on the RAM, I did. Just cant find anything old thats gonna pull what I want. I know what Im getting myself into. Wanted a new truck and, well, thats that. I can live with it.
But I dont think I could handle that nonsense on a farm tractor.

Don't play that game either. I do my part for the environment every time I throttle up my M's, they blow off black sooty smoke and I feel good about it.

I dunno 5030, some auto stuff is nothing but trouble..... my buddy has a new Ram 3500 that’s been in the shop and has drivin in limp mode as much as normal it seems. He’s a Dodge dude tho and doesn't talk much about it tho....

The car ran like crap when it was in regen, not to mention the intercooler icing, clogged EGR’s, then the scandal.... the 7060 seems to work ok for now. If there were more issues with them I’m sure we’d see it on the forums and there is not much chatter of actual problems? Just some dislike for the system which I do agree with and with you on. As with the cars and trucks, there are ‘fixes’ for tractors too, I’ve yet to see or hear of an EPA swat team out there pulling vehicles to the crusher as some think.. sure, the kids rolling coal are likely drawing attention to themselves but in areas where we don’t do emmissions testing for plates or safety inspections, I think we are safe as long as you’re not stupid. I’ll happily delete my tractor when the time comes. However, running it in the shop last night for a few minutes was quite pleasant... no smoke, not overly stinky...

I always warm either of mine in the tractor shop, especially in the winter and all I smell is a faint diesel and neither smoke unless I get on the fuel, which is foolish inside anyway. Far as vehicles go, I always opt for the extended factory warranty (not aftermarket junk), just because of the electronics and emissions if, I do have issues and if I do, I just plug in the scanner, which, you cannot do with a tractor of any make today because the manufacturer's didn't standardize like automotive did. I'd love to see OBD plugs on tractors but for now, ain't gonna happen. You buy one and you are married to the dealer with no hopes of divorce

It was more than dirty fuel. Had error code for high pressure in the rail system, a new solenoid fixed it SCV.

My operator doesn't like to keep the rpm's up. So after the dealer does a forced regen I will have to come up with solution, I'm thinking at end of each day maybe I'll raise the rpm's and let run for 20/30 minutes to burn off soot, then do a shutdown.

I don't blame your operator. Work should be enjoyable, and I enjoy running at lower rpms myself.
Pre-Tier 4 emisssion/electronic tractors had no problems running at lower rpms; maybe that could be a solution for you.

Yes lugging and idling especially todays Diesel engines is problematic

I disagree, if you told the operator to use the parking brake anytime he left the tractor and he didnt and it went free wheeling into god knows what, you wouldnt blame the operator? Same difference, if its my equipment, his check would be short for several weeks, he would also be on the shovel detail for quiet some time, or down the rd.

Fuel is off to the lab, reason I've 2 more drums full
The service was drain tank, flush. clean water separator, replace fuel filter, replace fuel pump, replace SCV solenoid.
The SCV was the cause of the high rail pressure error
ran some seafoam and marvel, then force a regen

KTAC does NOT cover losses due to contaminated fluids

I'm asking for old fuel pump and SCV solenoid so I can inspect, if the solenoid has an electrical open circuit I might ask for that portion of the bill be warranted.

So to sum up, it WASN'T a regen problem, looks like fuel waiting on lab test, however the check engine 50% power was the SCV solenoid will investigate that for qummed up or electrical failure.
