M5040 Hyd Top Link ?

Chris,

The 1/4" line has the threaded Male end for the Pioneer fitting, the other end is threaded Female fitting to connect to the Top Link fittings which are also Female.... hence the double Male fitting.

The difficult part will be connecting to the Factory Remote fittings..... they don't appear to be your typical quick-disconnect type... they don't have the sleeve to pull back.... kinda hard to describe....

I will probably just go ahead and take the top link and hoses to the dealer and ask them to assist in either providing me with the correct fittings, or tell me what I need to get to be able to attach to the factory rear remote fitting.

I'll try and get a pic or 2 tomm of the factory rear remote to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

Stu

I think that you will find that a std 1/2" QD fitting will work. How to connect-disconnect. Just push the male fitting in to connect. To disconnect, push in and then pull out, all in one quick motion.

Hope that this helps you.

Hmm, I thought all hoses came with male ends on both sides. I'm surprised CC&MM didn't give you everything you need to connect the hoses to the cylinder/top link. All my hose and top link fittings were 1/4" NPT. I bought 90* swivels to connect the hose to the top link.

Sounds like your factory QC's are different for the M vs the BX since mine have the pull back collar on the female side.

Here's a 90* elbow with 1/4 NPT male ends on both sides, but it's not a swivel fitting. Of course this assumes your hoses and top link are NPT compatible.

Surprised that no one with an M who's added the CC&M HTL has chimed in. You're probably best to take it to your dealer or a local hydraulic shop. Since I made mine up from Surplus Center stock, I knew what I was dealing with except for the male QC's which my dealer helped me with.

Thanks for the info.

I just received my Hyd Top Link along with some 1/4 Hoses with one end Male the other Female, and the Pioneer coupling which of course does not fit my factory remote.

It looks like I will ned to get a double Male fitting to connect the hoses to the Top Link, and then try and figure out what I need to do to connect the hoses to the Factory Rear Remote Coupling........or replace the factory rear remote coupling?

Did you remove the Kubota factory installed Female coupling from your remote and then install the Quick disconnects in your link?

I guess I need to find out just what I need to do to get this hooked up and working.

I hope my dealer can assist in at least telling my what type/size fitting I will need to get this to work with my factory remote.

Standard Pioneer fittings will fit! They might have sent you Deere fittings instead. Go to Tractor Supply....

Ok... I think based on what you guys have said that I can get this remote installed.

Here are some pics of the rear remote, and also the kit that I was sent from CC&M.

I think I need the correct remote fittings, which I hope are the one in the TSC link below, and then all I should need are some 90deg fitting to connect the hose's to the top link.

Let me know what you guys think.

Guess I'm a little confused. I thought your Kubota factor female remotes were not pioneer so I don't follow how buying the male pioneer fittings from TSC will work with them. If you replaced the rear factory remotes with female pioneer of the same size, that should work Then all you'd need is a male to male coupler to go between the top link and hoses, or between the hoses and the pioneer male QC's. I looks like the male side of the hoses CC&M sent you would thread right into the Top link block.

What I was trying to spec for you is the male QC's compatible with your factory female QC's but given the M set up is different than the BX, the one's I linked to at discount hydraulic hose might not work for you. If the female factory QCs have Snap Tite 72 Series embossed on them, then the one's I linked to would work.

It's become apparent to me that the factory rear remotes are not Pioneer.

The only marking on them is "Parker 0312-001"

I guess I will just have to see what my dealer can set me up with.

I'm disapointed that there doesn't appear to be anyone here with a M 40 series tractor who has installed a Hyd Top Link to there factory rear remotes.

the rear remotes on my m8540 accept 1/2" male pioneer fittings.

It's WORKING!

Just wanted to thank everyone who stated that the Pioneer fittings should work..... they did!

I went to the dealer this morning and took what I had and asked the service guys if this was what I needed.......they said it sure was..... I said OK.... show me on one of these M Models how to connect the Pioneer fittings.... they grabbed'em..... and popped them right into the rear remotes......... DANG........why doesn't it do that on my tractor???? I noticed on the tractor at the dealer that the couplings were springing free when they pushed the couplings in......hmmmmm.

I got home and saw that my couplings did not spring free like at the dealer........found my rubber mallet.... a few taps on the end of the couplings........and they were free.......then my Pioneer couplings popped right in place!

I went ahead and picked up some 3/8" double male hyd fittings to connect the hoses to the top link and got them connected.

I did have to grind a little bit on the top link so it would fit into where the top link pin is, and also had to use the middle hole on the tractor top link connection instead of the top one because the Hyd Top Link end is so much larger then the threaded top link.

Got everything hooked up and even though it was somewhat frustarting I'm glad it all worked out.

Thanks for everyones assistance!
