LX 178 & STX 38
Hi all,

I am a new owner of a LX 178 with the Kawasaki Fd440V. The machine was in a really bad shape, but I like the tractor overall and started rebuilding it on a tight budget.

The carburetor o ring of the float bowl is damaged and needs to be replaced. At the same time I saw that the top part of the float bowl is corroded. So I looked up the spare parts and saw that those parts a pretty expensive.

However, I found this part on Ebay. Item number 323820832579 ( Can't post links in my first 3 posts )

It looks almost identically to the one installed and I was wondering if someone had experience with those carburetors and know if they will fit my machine. I emailed the seller, but they couldn't really tell me.

Looking forward to your answers,

Mike

No. This fits a walk mower with a FC150 model engine. How bad is the corrosion? They are aluminum and some Scotchbrite will clean it up if it isn't a leaker. You can buy the o rings separate at Deere. Welcome to TBN BTW!

Hmm, I am stubborn enough and bought it. According to Jacksmallenging.com the float bowl and the o ring have the same partsnumber. I give it a try and see if they fit.

Pretty clever. It would be a cheap way to get a bowl. Keep us in the loop.

Got the carburetor today. The float bowl is minimal larger, with a little force I would be able to fit it in. However, the "O-Ring" which is not really an O ring, it´s squared fits well and I could just use that with the old float bowl and it works. Once I am cleaning the carburetor next time, I will see if the complete carburetor fits. I would guess yes.

Even though the chamber was the same, the carb from your engine and a 5 HP engine will be considerably different if that is what you mean. Unless the seller didn't know what he had. . .
