It's called Darwinism, and most laws prevent it, and thus work real hard at keeping stupid people alive in spite of them trying to off themselves... These 'survivors' then get to brew and pass along that genetic code that needs tons of nanny laws to keep them on the top side of the grass

So it would be better to just run them over, thus improve the gene pool? :scratchchin: Most states in the U.S. still honor the principle of contributory negligence in tort law. In its purest form, any contributory negligence at all by the injured party is a complete bar to recovering damages. Only a few states still follow that rule. Most now follow a modified version, allowing recovery based on the proportionate share of negligence.

As another poster has said, it's not so that the pedestrian always has the right of way. However, he/she would in a crosswalk!
