Tires Loading the tires

I ended up paying $1.64 a gallon for WWF at Wally World. Today I was at the Dollar store and saw WWF for $1 a gallon. Thought I'd made a mistake, until I read the label : Good for temperatures down to 30 degrees Fahrenheit! This stuff must have more blue dye than alcohol.

What am I missing here? Won't the water / WWF combo cause rust in the tire? I know rimguard isn't supposed to do this, but I thought you needed tubes for the WWF method.

No rust. No tubes, just cheap rear weight that is an easy DIY:D

Remember that 1) wheels are painted so there is little exposed metal, 2) there is very limited oxygen in a loaded tire, 3) water and methanol are not very corrosive (unlike salts). Bottom line is that you would not expect anything more than a little cosmetic corrosion on wheels that are loaded without tubes when using water or WWF. RimGuard is the same. Despite it's name I don't believe there are any serious rust preventatives, it is just beet juice/sugar and those are not corrosive either. The term RimGuard was a clever marketing move to draw away some of the much maligned CaCl2 business.
