I have a Farmall 400 to run a wood splitter. The wood splitter has a valve to run the ram on the splitter so I bungee the hydraulic open on the tractor and run the ram with the lever on the splitter. Does this do any damage over time to the tractor hydraulic pump or anything else?

Welcome to TBN:D

It is a common practice to bungee the lever to provide flow to a logsplitter-no harm done.

It won't hurt a thing,
I run a backhoe off my 400 that way,
till I was able to get a larger pump set up on it.
the splitter might be a little slow @ idle though.

Thanks for your help.

as long as the splitter is open center and has the proper retun / relief valves.. no issues.
