So I want to learn how to weld and use a torch. What is the best way, trail and error? I can weld a little but its not pretty and nothing fancy.

How have you learned other things that you enjoy doing and feel like you are good at? Books? Videos? Self Taught? Classroom instruction? Everyone learns differently. You may consider a little reading and a little trial and error before you take a class or connect with James. This can help you know what you don't know... I.e. you can figure out what questions to ask.
See if there's a class at your area community college, adult ed or vo-tech school. For a small fee you can avoid a lot of trial and error, learn things that you might not know to try and learn from other peoples mistakes.
