I recently dug a pond, about 3/4's of an acre. And STUPIDLY!! did not do ANY research.
I filled the pond about 2 weeks, ago,and now, it is almaost dry.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?,
I assume a BAD leak

Have it redone properly, by someone experienced in building ponds. A improperly built pond can be a headache that never ends.

It has to be lined with some sort of clay, if you don't have any it must be trucked in. Unless you live in Seattle, it'll never stay filled.

How deep did you dig the pond?

Did you dig through different layers of material?

Did you hit rock?

Where are you located?

Did you get a permit to dig the pond?

Can your local conservation dept. get you info?

etc

Yes, pictures would help.

Well, it all depends on your soil type, and whether or not you have enough clay in the soil to seal it up.

What did you dig this pond with?

When it's dry, can you get back down in there with equipment?

Most likely, you will have to line the pond with clay (no less than 2 ft thick), then pack it down with a sheepsfoot roller. Which means getting back down in there and digging it a bit deeper. An 8 ft basin is only going to get you 6.5 ft of water depth at the most... That's a pretty shallow pond...

Or, get a pond liner for a 3/4 acre pond. I have no idea what liners cost, or if they even make them that big.

There are more knowlegeable pond experts over at Pond Boss Forum - Powered by UBB.threads™ who can probably help you.

Bentonite will run about 3300.00 for 26 tons and thats delievered. Might be more now due to increase fuel prices but it works and pretty cheap. Dig permit??? Are you kidding me!!! If its your property you can dig, drill, burn, cut down trees, dump stuff ect. Dig permit thats a good one!!!
