L210--too weak?

I have an L210 Kubota (21 HP). The bushhog (Mohawk)is 5' and does fine in thin grass. In the thicker stuff it just bogs down. Do I need to size down, or is there a hog (rotary cutter) that might do better? Blades are fairly sharp, and I'm going pretty slow. The main problem grass is Bahaya (sp)?

Murph,

You're probably a little above the best size for a 21-horsepower tractor - 4' is most common unless you have a very light duty cut to do, then 5' might work to a certain extent. But if you can justify it, sizing down to a 4' cutter would likely make some difference. In your case, you might want to try before you buy, if possible.

Don't know what "Bahaya" grass is, but I agree with Muhammad. When I had a B7100 (16hp), it was a fine little machine, but tall thick grass, fire ant mounds, etc. sometimes bogged it down a bit even with the 4' brush hog. Sounds like you need to downsize the cutter, upsize the tractor, or go very, very slowly./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Bahaya is a FAST growing TOUGH grass that some people use for hay here in SW Arkansas. But get it in your yard and it's a real pain in the ___. I don't know if the spelling is correct, but it's pronounced that way. Also, it has a long tough stem with seeds growing out the top on little stalks. Anyway, thanks for the replies, also thanks to Mohammed.
