L series wheel weight problem.

Any one over came the problem of beet juice filled tires not being enough rear weight, Rear wheel weight GAWD awful price ti fit a L series wheel?

I priced some $1000.00 for a measly 500 pounds.

Lifting anything heavy I like to have an implement on the back anyway to try and move some of the weight off the front axle and gain some stability. Any specific reason you don't want to add weight on the 3PT?

If I know I am lifting heavy stuff with my little BX, I always have minimally a box blade on the back.

Massey - your tractor must have little tires. My Kubota M6040 has 16.9 x 28 8 ply rears. They hold 67 gallons of Rim Guard per tire - 750 pounds per tire. I also have a Rhino 950 rear blade on the 3-point- 1100#.

If you need MORE weight in the back - - splurge, get yourself a new 3-point implement. Cast wheel weight = unGodly expensive.

A three point counter weight, is much more effective than liquid ballast.

I change my own tires so never use liquid ballast but I do use cast iron weights and have 2 ballast boxes suitable for use on small and large tractors.

I found weights helped a lot on my L5740HSTC. I use WWF in my tires not beet jusice, but the cab weight should more than make up the difference. My weights cost just a bit over a buck per pound, but would have paid more for the benefit.

What issues you having? A 5' rotary cutter with a couple hundred lbs of crap 5-6' back on the tail could barely keep the back of my L3200 diwn. My new L4060 however is almost stable at max lift (pushing a ton) with almost nothing on the back. Any old impliment on there makes it rock solid. Both machines have/had loaded rears.

I've checked my hydraulic pressure & it's right. Loader is rated for 1,700lbs or so. My flail mower came on a pallet labeled 1,920. Add 200lbs for forks & some more for leverage with the load being a few feet out. I couldn't lift it mire than snow inch until I took off the PTO shaft & maybe 30lbs of stuff off the pallet. Felt rock solid stability wise with just my 5' LPGS on the back, maybe 700lbs.

Couple of options.......build a ballast box that has a hitch receiver on it. Plenty of good ideas on TBN.

Install a hitch receiver to your box blade.

Use you current draw bar and load the trailer tongue heavy before you load the bucket.

I'm sure there are more.....

This thread may help for ballast ideas When I need it I have about 900lbs I can add to the back side and I chose to keep it all modular rather than a concrete filled steel box I use granite I had. It's adjustable and allows me to better use that ballast box.

My l6060hstc has always been with my 500# cutter on it. I only once had it try to tip a little sideways when lifting a longer log. I can’t believe you can lift that much with your 4060. It doesn’t seem like I can lift that much but I have never measured it.

For the OP, maybe get a three point ballast box with a trailer hitch. I thought I had seen ones with receiver mounts on them.

275 gal ibc tote x 3/4 full x 8.34lbs/gal = about 1,700lbs. I could have filled it up a bit more & still lifted it but didnt want to push it as I bounced across the yard. Add in the 200lbs of forks & who knows what for hanging out a bit in front of the pins.

Feel free to check or question my math (I suck at it). But it's in the same ballpark of that pallet listed at 1,900lbs I couldn't quite lift.
