Hi Sixdogs;
I traded simply because my 5100 had been used hard for quite a few years, and now that I’ve retired I wanted to start out with a new tractor. Unless there is a problem with your 5100, or it’s worn to the point of trade-in, I sure wouldn’t recommend the move to the 6060 simply for the few improved features.
I really like the hi/lo range (shift on the fly). In effect, it gives you two speeds in each of the 3 ranges on your 5100. For example, I mow in 3rd /lo. It’s just a bit faster than 2nd/hi and perfect for my pasture.
The seat is improved and has much more cushion height, although at 230 pounds I bottom out on the 6060 even with the setting as tight as possible. I also had the problem on my 5100 however.
Cruise control, auto throttle advance, and stall may be nice in some applications, but I doubt I’ll have much use for any of them.
I’ve not needed nor noticed the extra power the 6060 may have over the 5100. I rarely used either to their full capacity.
I’m not looking forward to my first regen, and view that as a negative over the 5100.
All things considered; I love the 6060, but I also thoroughly enjoyed my 5100. If the new one gives me equal service as the 5100, I’ll be totally satisfied with it.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Regards.
