Kioti Broken in Half

2 operators in 2 machines can get more done. You can work 2 sites at once with 2 machines which I do frequently. Also if one machine were to break you still have half your equipment vs none.
2 operators also adds a lot more wages, but yes, you do get done faster.
Probably depends more on the task than anything. Some city work has very little room for 2 machines.

The city here still does a lot with their backhoe probably because it’s easy to drive around.

I wouldn’t be anti the idea if the cost was reasonable but that’s more money than I have in my CTL, mini excavator, backhoe, and dump truck combined.
Absolutely. Rarely is a Swiss Army Knife better. And it's never better for a specific task.

Right, and a backhoe is just one machine.
If you’ve ever been to Europes older cities, theres 1/2 the space as there is here. So one small SAK can make the difference between doing the job and not at all. Even the euro hoes have compact stabilizers

That's the big advantage of a TLB over an Excavator. On small, frequent jobs, scattered over a town/small city, the TLB reigns supreme.

Couple weeks ago I drove my TLB 2 miles to the local cemetary and put in a new entrance culvert. Took 30 minutes of hoe work. Would have taken longer to load/unload an Excavator twice.

It would be better if you were by yourself. When you’ve got a tilt trailer to make loading fast and you’re going to bring 17 trucks anyway like the city does there’s not much point.

I saw a neighbor digging for a new septic tank & field, so I hopped on the T5C and drove it next door. Dave had rented a mini-ex and urged me to operate because, "you're better at it". It maneuvered better along the snakey path he wanted to run one looong field line but I didn't appreciate the extra bobbing and wobbling of the ex, and digging wasn't the least bit easier for me.

My mini BH has ~ 1/2 the hp (20 vs ~35) and digs just as deep (>8') with the same 16" bucket but also weighs about 1/2 as much and will drive through a 4' wide gate. There is no best tool until one decides what the job requires. I have to reduce rpm (Honda GX 620) to avoid being tossed out when using the stinger to move sideways. With a full frame I doubt I could break it in half in any operating circumstance.

btw, another Dave wanted me to drive his own larger mini-ex after I repaired his CUT. (I drive NH, work on OP's Deeres) Meh.

Just curious how often you use an excavator? Hoping on something you're not used to for one job and saying it's not as good as what you used l to is kinda funny. The fact that you were "bobbing and wobbling" says to me you're not smooth with the controls and don't know what your doing.(with an excavator)

My thoughts exactly. My Deere 410 and my previous 310 have pretty good controls. Far better than most tractor backhoes have. But even if you gained nothing else from the mini the pilot joysticks in my mini and sitting beside the boom vs directly behind it is a big improvement over the backhoe. Also the mini has fast hydraulics. A skilled operator could take 3 buckets to every one the tractor backhoe could do. I do kinda miss a backhoes ability to level itself but that’s not enough to give up the mini. And the backhoe is pretty good at digging a ditch. That’s not what I would demonstrate to prove the differences.

I didn't say an ex wasn't as good, in case you can't read. I said I didn't enjoy operating it, so your weenie is bigger. (y)
Here ya go. (Go bully the dog after you take that reference pic for us)

So just how big an ex should I use to trench power, water, and drain lines, dig for a 1500 gal septic tank, or bury a horse when I've had/used more than enough for either/any since '06? Forgive my mere 15 yrs of operating both and owning only what works for my tasks vs what impresses armchair judges who don't know me from Adam.

btw, I don't drive my F450 to the grocery store. I have a car and I know how to use it. Just lettin' ya know, your honor. :)

Yeah Now there is some Major Damage...
What Truly Broke in Half means.

From the pics shown I think the Kioti owner was a Whole lot luckier on the actual damage to the core tractor components.
That Kubota had to be an expensive fix. Here is hoping KTAC was in effect.
Totally my fault!! I was trying to do something the tractor was not supposed to do. Fortunately, I sold the tractor for $9K after the damage. It broke at the mid mount. No ktac.

I mainly make my living with a 2ton excavator that people like to joke on, till they see it in action. So I'm definitely not in the competition for the "largest unit". Lol

I thought I would regret not buying a KX57 over the KX40 but the selection was bad and the price difference was fairly considerable so I bought the 40. I’ve been very pleased with what it will do. It’s a vast improvement over the M59 I had before it.

We would really really like to know what that something was. We are not going to laugh at you or try to make you feel bad, but if you mention what that "something" is, it can help many other people that might be doing that very something.

I just saw this machine on market place. I’ve seen some track loader backhoes but that’s the first articulated backhoe I’ve seen especially that small. They were ahead of their time with a mini articulated loader with the ability to work off both ends. They could have had something with that.

I was trying to pull a 6" diameter oak tree out of the ground with a fel mounted post puller. Push, pull and lift. It was probably the 100th tree I pulled. It just caught up with me and the tractor. Its pictured with a 3 point adaptor attached

Wow, I would not have thought that would have broken your tractor. I would have thought the relief valve would have just opened and that would have been that. I have done a lot worse.

"Like a Boss" (y) .. and apologies that I don't know you from Adam either. đź’© I have 15 productive/efficient years with the T5C and have drawn a crowd out of curiosity more than once, then out of fascination when I'm in my groove and really working it ... w/o breakin' it. (an 'audience' makes me nervous at times .. and 'clutzy'.)

It's one thing to buy what you can afford. It's a 'bigger' thing to be good with what you operate. IMO nothin' beats (properly) dedicated equipment. (see my guy above)

"You scarin' me." I'm gettin' ballasted and loaded rears off the ground often with a similar grapple doing the 'push-pull' on my T1520 w/110TL and on 3-4" trees in light soil. While I'm adding SSQA to the TC33DA's more powerful 14LA not sure anymore I couldn't bust the tractor. Elms have 'side' roots/runners and might rip a lot of sod coming out, but oaks have tap roots. They're no joke and why I bought the DR stump grinder.

I bought the tractor used with 1800 hours. I have no idea what it was used for before I got it. The fel it came with was the wrong one for the tractor. I had to do some reinforcing of the mounts to get it to hold. Thats probably one of the reasons why it broke. I broke it with about 2100 hours. I freely admit I abused the poor thing. To complete the tasks I had, I made the decision to replace it with a Kubota M6060 and have the property professionally masticated. Now I wont have the need to abuse the tractor and, I have enough tractor to the jobs I'll need it for.
