IH 2400 case Ih Jx75
Hello
I have a jx75 that I bought three months ago.It has been a good tractor so far with 70 hrs. on the meter. My only concern is sometimes starting or when its working hard will let out a puff of white bluish smoke. Is this common or should I be concerned? This is my first diesel so I'm not sure what to expect. Is the jx diesel supposed to be a good engine?Any replies would be appreciated.
Thanks Rex

If it really is "white" smoke, it might mean coolant in the cylinders. But if it is bluish white it probably means the rings are not seated all the way yet, with only 70 hours this may be the case. If it just puffs a time or two under a heavy load then I wouldn't worry about it much. KDJ j48

check your head gasket. do a compression test on all your cylinders. note if there is a difference in any of the cylinders. all should be within 10 lbs of each other. if not you may have a leaky head gasket or a valve not seating propertly. if a valve is not seating you should be getting slight to loud backfire thru the intake or exhaust.
