Bought my 2004 Dodge Cummins new in 2004.
No emissions from the factory except for some egr in the cam profile.
I can't find that cam.
Paid 39k out the door.
Yes I put a ton of money into it but no comparison to these new junks.

My 2020 “junks” Ram Cummins 5500 has towed about 350 loads of hay grossing 45,000-50,000lbs over the last 6 years with nothing much more than oil & fuel filter changes.
Bone stock, 350/850 rating. No transmission mods, no power mods.
It owes me nothing. One of the best equipment purchases of my life.

Anyone who says “you just can’t get a good basic truck, like the old days” is FOS.
Just buy a Ram Cummins Tradesman. It’s a basic truck that will do just about anything you want.

We moved 4 years ago from the PA/DE border (Garnet Valley) to East Texas.
This is truck country here for sure. Loads of all brands.

And people use their trucks as trucks down here, even using them to haul groceries. Last statistic that I saw was 1 out of every 7 pickups is sold in Texas. Must be why there are the GM Texas edition, the Ford King Ranch edition, and the RAM Lone Star edition.

Yea we were also within walking distance. Some of the neighbors in our development, their back property line is Delaware. Sharon development off Zebley road.

It’s 171 million acres so you’d have to 2 person households to make that work. By the time you build roads and utility easements you’d probably need to put 3 people per house.

Ok, this is strictly about trucks, and not about politics, but didnt they just approve Kei trucks to be manufactured and sold in the US? Will they be exempt from some safety or emissions? Because without that part, they are $12,500 trucks, that will cost $25k+; with 50% being safety and emissions

I bet you could resto-mod an older truck for much less than a new one. Not talking collector resto-mods, but new/rebuilt engine, rebuilt trans, paint and adding disc brakes.

I miss a pickups bench seat and vent windows...

But why would I want to? BTW those old trucks were actually pretty expensive if you consider how basic the build was and factor in inflation. Take it one step further and calculate how many acres of farm land you could buy for a truck price back then vs now.
