Few times I have to drive her car I can't even control the radio my favorite radio station plays 80s and 90s rock and alternative try putting that station on her cars infotainment screen I get kids bop or worse on her sirius xm. All I want is my conventional radio station. My 2016 Sierra came with a month of free sirius xm. I never even used or activated it.
Oh come on. That’s on you. :ROFLMAO:
You have to get with the times baby! 😁

Dr Rick can put his kids thru college on me alone probably šŸ˜‚. Like I.s aid Before I can figure out electronic contraptions that aid in the usefulness not luxury related of a vehicle I'm driving like the curt brake controller I mentioned earlier. However throw in a infotainment screen finding radio stations Dr Rick should be on speed dial lol.

Absolutely hate heated seats. Wife had them in a couple vehicles and would turn mine on without me knowing. Next thing I know I'm sweating and can't sit. First couple times took a bit to figure out why I was gradually getting warm.

Don't need air conditioning. My '99 CK3500 hasn't worked since I don't know when.
I'm with you on that. Real Menā„¢ don't need heated seats (or steering wheels). :ROFLMAO:
I can go for years without using AC either, but I live in northern N.H. where it doesn't really get all that hot very often.

Well I'm working on getting my good old basic truck. I'll find out at end of month.
Put a sealed bid in on a firetruck.
A mint 1980 Ford L9000 single axle with a 6V92 Detroit Diesel.
If I get it, I will be removing the body, building a flatbed and that will be my new pickup for hauling antique tractors to the shows.

My guess is some items are more regional in popularity?

It’s just not cold here and never snows and overnight frost is rare.

I have heated wheel and seats and used once to see if functional on a used truck to me.

Backup camera could be like A/C of former days… once you become accustomed it’s becomes a need verses want.

A GOOD am radio serves me well… I’m certain this puts me in a minority.

Plenty of convenience items don’t age well and are expensive to fix… just food for thought and maybe why many I know in business lease so as not to deal with repairs and down time.

I am still an absolute sucker for the ā€œcat eyeā€ duramaxes.
Wish I had 9 grand to buy this one. Plain jane, but love it.
IMO, nicest driving trucks ever built.

I always liked the looks of this generation of newer Silverado hds was around the same time I bought my Sierra looked high and low couldn't find the "unicorn" with what I wanted on that gen of Silverados in my budget at that time. Probably would have made time and driven halfway across the country if I found one.

Remember yrs ago when I lived in Mississippi and later southern California I was surprised to see suvs like blazers, broncos and 4runners equipped with only rwd. Where I grew up in a snowy area every SUV was 4wd so I ignorantly figured every SUV was 4wd.

Very much true.

For reference for those that read my posts location ranges from below zero in winter and 80 plus and humid summers.

TPMS is vital to me. When I’m towing at max capacity, those 4 rear tires must be checked. A blowout could cost me my life.
I just wish I had them on my trailer, too.

They are very accurate. Whenever I compare them to a traditional air gauge, they are within 1-3lbs.
The GM trailer system is great. I have TPMS on all 5 of my trailers. Really nice on the 12-hour round trip to pick up the new horse yesterday. They also display trailer tire air temp, so I am hoping a bearing going out will show up, if it heats up the rim.

Also the trailer lights are monitored. We went through some heavy rain on the way back and it alerted me that the left turn lights had issues. When I tried them, they flashed faster than the right turn signal. They worked fine when we got home but we had been out of the rain for several hours. I will check today to see if I can tell if water leaked into one of the LED bulb sockets or bulbs.

I also have maintenance reminders. The GM system tracks the mileage on each individual trailer, you just select the trailer when you hook up. I can set alerts for either time, mileage, or both to alert when maintenance is due. I also have manual records to back it up.

Quick hack I learned over the years when I leave my trailer plugged into my trucks 7 blade over extended periods of time when I start it the infotainment screen is sometimes blank also no backup camera. A quick unplug and replug has always remedied the problem for me anyway. Also even on older less equipped hd sierra with factory electric brake controllers an alert will come on the dash if trailer brakes aren't working usually remedied again with unplugging and plugging wiring coupling back in. Always worked for me anyway and it's never done it when I'm actually driving with a trailer attached. Only during initial start up.

Nothing wrong with innovation. I like all the fancy bells and whistles on our new vehicles. Why not enhance quality of life. Kind of like still living in the open without fire, when living in caves and fire came along. Where would we be now if someone had not tried it and liked it.

Dr. Rick wants you to know those old cold, hard ā€œhose ā€˜n’ goā€ vinyl seats and interiors are what your parents had.
It’s ok to have leather heated & cooled seats now.
It’s also OK to have back up cameras, a center stack screen, infotainment and TPMS.
If you’re really daring, a heated steering wheel

Progressive Insurance ads on TV. They’re pretty funny. Make fun of older people’s tendencies and to remind younger people not to find themselves acting like their older, more stodgy parents.

My parents had leather as standard in the cheapest new $380 Model A or mohair in the most expensive Model A

I hear tell that some cars at one time came with Naugahyde… but never seen a Nauga.

My only new car came with imitation leather in the BMW… no heated seats as no cold weather package.

The problem is I've tried a bunch of this stuff and don't like it. On top of that, If I want a new car/truck, I'm forced to pay for this crap. I was going to order a 2025 F350 until I discovered they were going to quit making what I wanted and luckily found a 2024 on a lot that was very close to what I wanted. I was forced to pay for that stupid office desk that does not work for me.($400 included in the price} Now it is going to cost me about $350 for the parts to replace it.
