Could just be the pic. But being they dont make outwears for a 500 air filter. It might not even fit across thatair filter and leaving gaps running it.
Looks like a rubber band stretched to its limits and not even fitting on there.

500 af looks wider? You have a HD2 from a 44 66 88 to compare?

Compared to a 44 66 88 HD2.

 Just got to ask. You keeping your chains sharp? Chips not dust or maybe your milling?

Thats sad IMHO. Not seeing that here.

You know the 500 filter is not even on the outwears list for fitting that filter. ? Maybe not even fitting it right? Chainsaw Pre-Filters, Stihl

Looks like you need the max-flo.

My chains are sharp I’m out in the PNW where the dust off the bark is something else. If I’m cutting old growth style Doug Fir you will see a cloud of dust from the bark well cutting it gets on everything and into everything.
It’s not listed but it is made for the 500.
A max-flo would be nice but what would be nicer is if Stihl could get their act together and finally produce a filter setup that doesn’t allow fines past from day one like Husky does.

Fines gets by this HD 440 every time it is dropped off for work. Even with stihls prefilter.

But I know he pushes his chains to dust mode. Because I sharpen his chains when they come in too.

Came in for hard to start and throwing chains.

He had actually threw some parts from it he was so ticked at it.

Not quite as aggressive as I’d run normally in Doug Fir but you get the idea.

She lives and starts easy again. :giggle:

Give it a year ;) she will be back in again.

Put a new bar on for him with new rim etc to see how these bars wear.

Needed a recoil shell for the last 3.7 saw. So instead of buying just a recoil I bought a whole parts 3.7 red saw.
What luck another 3700 61cc thin ring top.

Never saw a mag one break like that. Explains pulley wobble.

Sometimes you just got to shake your head in amazement when folks try and do their own work. 🤦‍♂️

Missed the routing by a bunch and across the cylinder.

Good thing they dropped it and broke case before burning through fuel line.

That red saw ended up a parts saw. Coil into a grey 2300cva for owner. Redneck check valve fix for oiler. 2000 new lines, 1800 new lines and carb from red.

My eye sight is pretty poor, but i'll take a stab at it, as it looks like the fuel filter hose has a screw in the end. If so, how could that happen??

On my echo CS-490 with a 20" chain, I keep getting the nose freezing up and stopping the chain.
Seems to be using plenty of oil and nose gear is greased.
Have this on two bars. using good/same bar oil I always use.
Bucking dead ash. It's a pain when halfway through a 15" or so branch and chain stops.

Any ideas what I should look for. One bar is new, only a few hours and never pinched.
