No problems here keeping wild things running for folks. All in tuning and fuel lines. ;) Most of them have problems with operators not knowing how to tune and fix lines and keeping a chain sharp.
Only thing I dont care for on the oem wild things = No AV

A 1 owner I am going through right now. Going to update the tank and air filter to the 505 set up. 1991 and appears to be low hurs on it.

Trying to decide to leave it 65cc or go to 71cc or 77cc before putting back together.

fuel lines seem to be in good shape. I did some adjustments on the carb and finally got it to running pretty good. Chain is sharp. No problems with it

I hate my husky rancher 55. It's a bugger to start with no decompression. I can crank my 372 much easier

Where are you finding these saws? Pretty much every saw on Craig's lost around here the owner is asking darn near new prices. I'd like to find one good larger saw for the occasional big cherry trees that windfall on our property. But I don't want to spend $500 on a used saw. I'm still on my first Poulan 42cc saw for about $129 factory reconditioned. It's worked well for almost 10 years. I could by 3 more plus accessories for the price of one used larger saw around here.

Nothing wrong with keeping a small saw and keep running it, but it is also a lot easier on the body running a heavy duty saw that will cut through the log in 20 seconds vs. 3 minutes multiple times for one tree.

I take in trades or buy saws needing rebuilt. I would never ever pay ebay or CL full prices. I'm to cheap and know what I can buy new for. Most folks paying darn near new prices on used saws these days LOL

Yep. Especially lower end stihls like 290 and 310 variants, or the box store huskys.

I only buy older Homelites but last winter was looking to buy and came across a MS290 at the local flee market. The guy wanted over $300.00 and the thing was trashed. Swore it ran great but couldn't get it running.
Since then I've bought a Homelite XL-12($30.00), an old Blue SuperXLAO($65.00), and a newer LOL mid 80's Super XLAutomatic ($60.00). Haven't put $20.00 in all of them and they all run Great!

54cc I bought for parts. But after checking over seen it wouldnt take much to put back out there. 2 rubber av's, tensioner, clutch bearing, clutch cover, recoil rope, impulse line, fuel line and filter. Off the top of my head.

Done and tested out good.

Before pic in these pics somewhere as arrived. Also pic showing how the rope goes on these.

54cc on bench. Have 3 of these now and the #1 is such a ripper. 3 cube size in 54cc

Ordered new piston kit, even though I could clean this piston up and reuse. Cylinder I will clean up.

3.3 LEFT side. Comparing to 330 set up on right.
