The turbo lunched it self on Monday and when I was taking it off I found the rubber hose connection from the aircleaner had split right beside the hose clamp. Note to self CHECK HOSE CONNECTION MORE OFTEN. :shocked:

OK go the new turbo fitted and a new hose. This is on a C140 and applies to the FTX140 also. The rubber hose on the turbo and connects to the aircleaner is 3''X4'' right angle bend. OEM fitted is piss weak and the failure there can dust the engine. I got one from Donaldson and the wall thickness is over twice as thick so hopefully won't fail.

Good info. I replaced all the rubber on my 90 while I was replacing the engine. Checking the boots on the intake should be a regular part of maintenance on all of our machines.

Heads up #2: If you find a bolt laying in the guts of your 140 and it has a washer with a tab at a right angle it will be from where the cutter pump mounts to the bell housing. All these bolts can shear off then the pumps drop and destroys the drive plate. If you still have the Eaton pump it is imposable to see or feel if the 2 bottom bolts are in place without removing all the hydraulic hoses that are under that pump. A barstard of a job I know but cheaper than the alternative. There is a fair amount of under engineering in this area and the mounting bolts cannot carry the weight of all the pumps that are stacked on them so also look at putting a rubber mount on the front track drive pump.
Please don't ask me how I know all this as I'm still balling my eyes out

Is the rubber mount to take off some of the overhung weight? Did you fabricate something? It may be a good idea to also change out the pump mount bolts with something better. Thanks for sharing, that's good to know.

Yep I'm going to put a rubber mount on the pumps to help support them. I can't do anything about the bolt size because of the pump design. The original bolts were grade 8

I don't know if mine is similar, or if this will help. But here's what I did with the pump on my 90.



I just drilled a hole in the bottom. Rubber mount top and bottom.

Thanks Andy, that's what I was thinking of. It's a dam shame tractor designers and manufactures are so dumb that they don't think of stuff like this.
